I'm wondering if any CRNA's on this site do trauma anesthesia?
Also, can you complete a residency of some sort with a specialized practice in some places?
Thanks

We are a Level-1 designated Trauma Center. IF you are interested in doing trauma care then go to a program that has Level 1 trauma designation at their clinical site(s). There are no Trauma fellowships for CRNAs (other then working at a Trauma Center Hospital- then the odds are in your favor for doing trauma cases). Good Luck:D

Kaiser School of Anesthesia has clinical rotations in trauma centers (2), but I am not aware of specific jobs in trauma. Really, you need to be able to do trauma at any time, especially if you are doing a night shift and something comes in. I had a gunshot wound come in last week during my clinical. My attending was asleep, said, go ahead, you can handle it. I did. She survived. Whew! A lot of blood. B/P problems. Threw in an art line, etc. Clinicals should give you the opportuity to see if it is for you.

i start anesthesia training in january - first you get your crna - then you specialize if you like....at least that is how it was told to me..... we'll see.
Thank you for the replies guys/gals.
So, everyone gets some type of rotation in trauma before you graduate from school, correct?
One more queston, which anesthesia service do you enjoy providing the most? Which one gives you the biggest rush?
