Transcript Q

Hi Allnurses members,

I recently reentered college as an older student and I've been doing great, with all As in my classes, and I'm in a pre-nursing course. When applying for nursing school, though, I'm worried about how my old transcripts will affect me.

I went to a community college straight out of high school when I wasn't ready for college and ended up getting a lot of Ws. I was put on progress probation after getting two As in (online) classes but withdrawing from the rest again. I got a B in another class and then I went back into getting Ws for another semester and was put on progress probation again. I have 12 Ws from the time I went to that school, if you can call it attending. I took a year off of trying to go to school to solve the problems I had been having, and, since being ready for college and attending a state college, I've been maintaining a 4.0 GPA with no withdrawals or incompletes. I have forty credits or so in AP credits, as well.

When I'm applying to nursing school, they do want all my transcripts. What I'm wondering about is if my recent progress is going to trump that horrible past or if I'm likely to be denied because of bad progress from (at the time of applying) more than two years prior. I don't think there's any point in the application where I could explain the old progress problems. Thoughts?
