Hello,

I will start by saying thank you to AN for providing a forum that has been a wonderful resource center.

OK, so while waiting to hear from the numerous interviews that I`ve been to, I decided to replied to 2 adds on craigslist this morning, I got a call back from both, a staffing agency for both county and city school (School nurse) and an adult day care center. I went for an interview for the day care center and noticed some unprofessional conduct by the owners (family owned), they were so desperate they asked if I can start tomorrow, (they can`t operate without an RN on the facility, one of the RN`s walked out on them during the interview. I met the SW on my way out and asked why the Rn walked out, she said it was all about her and has nothing to do with the center, she said she has been working there since it opened (Jan/12) and she loved it. it doesn`t seem like a busy place though, 8-2pm M-F. There was no questions about me or why I want to work there, I was only asked to write a care plan and warned i will do alot of paper work. They get most of thier pt`s from medicaid/medicare (AER).

The staffing agency (school job) asked for all my documentation, which i provided in person just to see what the office looks like. The issue is that I need to be "Delegating Nurse Certified" (I have no idea what that is), agency told me I can start working as a school nurse as early as Monday if i can get the certification. Did some reasearch and found a center that charges $300 for the certification. But I am worried I might not get the job after spending so much money.

Questions please:

1, Have you heard of Delegating nurse certification and how much does it cost?

2, Do I need get a for this job?

3, Does the school nurse job sound real to you?(I will think school nurse is direct and no agency involve.)

Has anyone ever gotten a job through CRAIGSLIST?

Thanks all.

Specializes in OB (with a history of cardiac).

Delegation is an RN task, so I don't know if that's their fancy way of saying you have to be an RN? School nurses often have heath para's (paraprofessionals) working under them, and the school nurse (an RN, and in my state they have to also be public health certified) delegates to the para. Maybe that's what they mean.

As for the adult day care center...that just has train wreck written all over it. I wouldn't do it.
