I am currently a nursing student who will graduate as an RN in Spring of 2012. When I had my psych rotation, I knew like you know a good melon, that this was exactly what I was looking for.
With that in mind, rather than wait until graduation day looking like a deer in front of the headlights, I would really like to prepare some options for possible psychiatric nursing opportunities. I thought it would be good to try and do some volunteer work in these areas, to make some contacts and continue to grow my skills.
What I am interested in, is searching in the right places for psychiatric nursing opportunities. Particularly in the Lansing, MI area (for those of you with amazing google search skills). I would like to make a comprehensive list of places and check them out, prior to applying to them. I do realize many might want a year of med-surg nursing, but I was hoping with some volunteer work in this area, there might be some more flexibility.
I would appreciate any links and/or search tools, known businesses, thoughts, so that I can think ahead and come to graduation armed and ready! :)
Thank you for your help in advance!
Sincerely,
Future Psych Nurse!
