Taking a poll: Which foreign language do you think would be most useful for nursing

Published

I will be starting my BSN program this fall and this will be my second degree. I already have the majority of the credits needed for my second bachelors except for a foreign language. I plan on fulfilling these credits during the summer months and I'm trying to decide which language to focus on. I'm leaning towards either Spanish or ASL. What second language do you think would be most helpful to have some background in for a career in nursing?

It depends on where you are going to be working. In my current locale Spanish and Russian (and Ukrainian) would be the languages most used aside from English. In my prior home-city it would have been more beneficial to learn Mandarin or Vietnamese. What are the most commonly used languages in your town? Or in the area or population you see yourself working in/with? That can help guide your decision.
