I'm currently at Linfield college as a pre-nursing student, but I'm taking a medical leave of absence for this semester because of 2 herniated discs and a severe knee injury. This will put me behind a semester.
I'm now considering switching to a community college to get my RN and then doing an RN to BSN program, mostly to save money. Linfield costs me about $25,000 a year with financial aid, so I was already looking at a lot of debt because my loans are in my name, not my parents'.
Does it look bad to switch from a private school to a community college? It's not that I think my degree from the community college won't look as good (although I guess that's a slight concern). But, I'm mostly worried about how switching schools will look to future employers.

Future employers won't care one bit about where your degree came from, or the fact that you switched schools. What matters is that you pass the NCLEX :)
