Swine Flu Funny

I work at an elementry school as a health assistant. I was in the mailroom the other day and I had a teacher come up and ask me when we were going to get the HIV vaccine for the school . I started laughing, and said you do mean H1N1 vaccine right she started laughing and I said If our little ones have HIV I don't even want to know what they have been up to. lol

While I do see the humor in the mistake of saying HIV rather than H1N1 ...

Are you aware that it is very possible that some of your students may well have HIV and you don't know it? People who are HIV+ don't wear signs on their backs or anything. They walk around and lead pretty normal lives, go to school, etc. With today's treatments, you might have some kids in your school who inherited HIV from their Mom's. They might not have "been up to" anything. Be careful when making judgments like that. The person you are talking with may be HIV+ or sensitive to the suggestion that people who are HIV+ have done something wrong or naughty.

I do know that about HIV and I wasn't thinking of it at the time, cause we were all just laughing and joking around.
