Surgery to ICU

I have been working in surgery for about a year now.. Thinking about transfering to the icu, is my experience in surgery enough to get me in or will I need to do some med surg first?

I don't know that you'd necessarily need to work med-surg first, but you would probably need plenty of orientation, maybe not as much as a new grad but less than someone with more patient care experience. One of my friends transitioned a few year ago but she'd been a nurse for a long time.
