Hey everyone!!!
I just got accepted into and RN program in Arkansas and I was wondering what supplies could I get out of the way??? The schools orientation isn't until August 8. I hate getting things all at once and plus I know alot of the stuff may be kind of expensive! Could someone give a list of neccessary materials needed for nursing school???:)

Post its, highlighters, binders for each class to keep organized, lots and lots of black pens, notebooks, folders,(save all your papers test etc. for each class) test for success book because nursing is application style questions and not like regular test, comfy clothes and shoes, and I keep cases of water in my car. Congrats on getting in!

We needed to get a stethoscope, gait belt, watch with a second hand, and a pen light. A good rolling backpack is nice to have (I have a Jansport).
Oh, and congrats!

I know it's not as fun, but I would wait. Start saving up money to buy your supplies, because yes, they are expensive, but don't do it yet--especially don't buy scrubs! My school (and most, as far as I can tell) have very specific equipment they want you to have. We had to buy a very particular style of scrubs, in a certain color, and have them embroidered with the school's name and nursing program logo. They may have specific colors of stethoscopes and watches they want you to buy. We did NOT need a gait belt or a blood pressure cuff (in fact, we cannot use our own because of hygiene issues--we have to use hospital ones).
If you really want to buy stuff, get notebooks, stacks of index cards (for flashcards, if you like them), black pens, and binders to hold everything.
Congratulations on your acceptance! Don't worry--soon enough you'll be able to buy all the fun nursing stuff you want! :)
Thanks everyone!!!

What queenjulie said, wait. You can stock up on basic school supplies and the success books (fundamentals, med surg) but you don't want to waste money on anything they don't want you to have. Also, my school had a 'sale' during orientation where we could buy a lot of what we needed through them for cheaper than on our own. There are A LOT of unexpected expenses in your first semester that I wish I had been warned about, so be ready.
OK I think I will wait!!!!
