Student Loan question

Published

I have no clue when it comes to student loans. I have been lucky enough so far that financial aide has covered everything up to this point. I am hoping to get into the nursing program this fall at APSU, but will need loans if only to pay for childcare. To put it simply if I can't get a loan to pay for childcare I can't got o school this fall. Now I know squat about student loans & I think that's over rating my knowledge. I know that I need something that will pay the money to me directly but I don't know where to look & who the trustworthy companies are that offer loans. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi,

I am not sure about loans either, I am an international student so dont have any options other than private loans. I do know that if you are not working through college you may need a co-signer with a good credit score in order to bring down the interest rate. Otherwise no real help - sorry!

Your biggest asset is your school's financial aid office/counselors, they will be able to point you in a more specific direction regarding what you may qualify for, I'm sure you aren't the only student in your cohort who are trying to overcome this challenge. Many students take out aid for living expenses.

If you have not yet completed the FAFSA, you should do this immediately, to determine if you qualify for any federal loans (which typically grant lower interest rates). (http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/)

I've successfully googled many valuable student loan resources, including:

Good luck! ;)

I have already filled out the FAFSA so that's done. I guess I will have to talk with someone at the college.
