Struggling for a research proposal topic

Published

I am a grad student in a NP program. I am taking a Quantitative Nurs Research course and need to develope a research proposal. I am at a disadvantage since I am not in a clinical setting right now ( I am a stay at home mom raising kids ) Prior to kids, I was an Oncology Nurse for 14 years so it would be the topic for which I am most familar. I would like to keep the topic simple and have easily measurable variables. ( ie best mouth care protocals, handwashing techniques, ) My question for those on the floors or in the clinic, what do you see as pt care problems that you would change if you could. This could be pt care or pt teaching issues.

I thank you in advance and appreciate any suggestions.

Is there a better place to post this question?

I would also try posting this to the oncology forum.

I would check to see if when a narcotic is written is there any documentation of sedation and constipation management and on the next visit see if pain relief is addressed again as well as constipation/sedation.

How about pain control in pts with end-stage cancer? There are a lot of issues with this, I'm sure. I've found from some of my own research, that for various reasons, pain is often under-treated in this population.
