St. Raphael CRNA interview

I've recently applied to the HSR CRNA program, and was wondering what the interview is like. Do you have any advice for how to prepare for the interview? What types of questions were you asked? Thanks for your help.

I interviewed for the St. Raphael prgram last year and got in. The interview is nothing to be nervous about at all. First they show you around the OR's and the facility and then you get to meet some of their crna students. You then have an interview with the director of the program, who is by the way really easy going, and then the admissions commitee. They ask you questions like; Why do you want to be a Crna, what does your family think about you becomming a crna-are they supportive of you?, how are you going to finance school, how many hours do you expect to spend each week to study/prep etc, They have also asked some people to describe the actions of various drugs, for you to tell them about a really sick pt you took care of and what the outcome was, what you expect out of the program etc. I didn't find it bad at all and everybody was very nice, I had a good experience. I hope you will make it to the interviews and beyond.

:)

Noodles - did you interview for St Ray's yet? I'll be interviewing and am just curious on how you felt it was. Were there many clinical based questions? thanks!

I'm in the St. Raphael program right now and we just finished up the summer classes. The interview is very easy going. I know some people that got some clinical questions about drugs but they were easy like; what does dobutamine do? and when would you use nipride? etc. Most of the questions however are going to be about why you want to be a crna, how you are going to finance your education and how your family feels about it all. During the interview you'II meet with the director of the program and then some of the instructors and other crna's etc that are also part of the program. They'II give you a tour of the OR and you meet with crna students currently in the program. Hope this helps. :)

Thanks for the help, I feel much less nervous now! I have my interview for early decision in Sept - keeping my fingers crossed! This program sounds like a good one, I like how it's split into didactic and clinical phases, and it's great that they offer a stipend and help with tuition at CCSU.

Yes,

As long as you get a B in each class you get the tuition reinbursed and then you also get stipend like minimum wage for the hospital part + about $500 per month for housing. Good luck to you and hope you get in! :)

Good luck with the interview.
