st paul's 2014

hi everyone. i attended an information session at St.Paul's School of Nursing in Queens and passed the SLE test right after. i think the downside of this school is the tuition which is around $45K, that's if a person has to take all of the prereqs & clinical classes. I took some prereqs but here's the catch that the lady in the session told us: all science courses must be at least a B and taken within the past 2 years AND all non-science course (psych, sociology, etc) must be at least a C+ and taken within the past 5 years. So technically i have to re-take all of the prereqs cause they do not fit in their requirements. I'm wondering if anyone else had to do this and also how are the class schedule on an every day basis? thanks so much in advance PS. and how are the classes? :)

@ladyey...Yeah that's how SPSON does it now.They uped the ante on what's acceptable grade in order to transfer as well as what the minimum grade is to pass a class once you're in.It was a bit different since I went.Look at their student bulletin to see the specifics.My personal opinion is that they are not too though on you in classes compared to other schools.But it is not a walk through the park either unfortunately.Depends on the type of student you are.If you work hard then I cannot of a class I took a here that at the very least I could get a A-.Not that I personally did.But if you slack then you dig yourself a hole.To be honest the teachers vary in personality but most of them are good.Some may work you hard but it pays off in the end.They know you are paying a lot of money.My advice to you is prepare in advance for everything especially NCLEX.If you can take pre-reqs outside the school do so because once you 're in you can't. Understand their accreditation status,see which schools will take their credits when you decide for BSN program.Market yourself to EVERYONE so you increase your chances of getting a job when you finish.You will have to be proactive here and there as far as paperwork is concerned..Drug tests, clinical assignments,annuals physicals all that administrative stuff.Overall hard work and preparation will overcome everything.Easier said than done.LOL.All the best.

Hello. i too attended a recent open house at SPSON and I was taken aback by their requirements and the tuition. However I think I am going to go for it -are you taking the hesci exam soon ?
