smart sites

We have noticed a recent increase in infections after switching to using smart sites on our IVs. Anyone else noticed this and what can be used in place of the smart site? Also, does anyone have any evidence based research to support policies on changing IV tubing on peripheral and central lines? Thanks

    Is a smart cap an infusion plug? We put one on the end of all of our lines and change it with tubing changes every 96 hours. It does remind people to scrub the hub.
