SIUE program

Can anyone give any insight as to how many applicants vs interview? I am also wondering how many slots they have open for each year? If anyone has any experience with their interview process or program I would love to hear it.

Thanks,

I'm starting the anesthesia program at SIUE in a few weeks. The school is now accepting applications for the Fall of 2005, and the deadline for application is now August 1st and they will be interviewing in September. This is a big change because the deadline used to be in November and then they did interviews in February. I have been told that because of this big change in the deadline, the number of applicants this year is much smaller than it has been because people are just unaware that the deadline is approaching so fast.

As far as the number of slots open, they told us when I interviewed that they were going to offer between 16-20 spots, and someone I know who is already in the program told me that they do have 20 students entering this fall. They interviewed around 45 people I believe they told us, but I'm not sure about the total number of applicants last year. The interview itself was not bad. I was asked things like why I wanted to enter anesthesia, why did I think they should choose me, what was a typical day in my nursing job like and what would I consider a stressful day, what did I know about nursing anesthesia, had I shadowed an anesthetist, why did I want to attend SIUE in particular, etc.

Hope this was of some help to you. Good luck!

Very helpful thanks for taking the time to answer. Where did you do your undergrad?

RNKLTYM

I'm glad that info was of some help to you. My undergrad education was at SIUE too.
