Hello,
I am a student applying for the nursing program next fall..It is required that I complete a min. of 24 hours shadowing a Registered Nurse, and honestly its been really tough to get this done. I have applied to different hospitals but they required 100 hrs of volunteer in addition to the shadowing hours...And most of them don't have registered nurses but licensed..I would really appreciate if anyone could help or knows someone that can direct and help me in this matter! I live in the detorit are of Michigan to be more specific!
Thanks for your time!

Does it have to be in a hospital setting? What about splitting up the hours and shadowing a long term care facility RN, a school nurse, a hospice nurse, a clinic nurse (some doc office do still employee them though it might be tough to find one), and maybe an out patient surgery center nurse? Perhaps folks would be more agreeable if you approach them with a shorter time frame like 6 hours versus 24, know what I mean? I think the varied shadowing experience would look good for you. At worse case though the 100 hours of volunteer work isn't that bad if you can plan ahead and divide it up if the course of several months.
it doesnt really have to be in hospital setting, i have tried also nursing homes but they dont have RN'S..but thanks for ur idea that may be a good idea to make the hours shorter and at different placess!!! i really appreciate ur help and reply!
