Sentara Spring 2016

Good morning everyone!!

is anyone else here applying to Sentara's spring class coming up? My TEAS, application, pre-reqs, etc are all completed. Just waiting on the deadline to pass so I can find out if I made it in.

Have a great Memorial weekend!!

Hi! I turned in my application last week and it was suggested I retake the TEAS. Signed up to take it again on Thursday. Spent today reviewing the areas that I missed on my first test. Good luck to you!

Hi!!!

That's great they gave you a heads up about your scores. If you don't mind me asking, what were your scores? I really struggled with Earth and Physical Science!! And I just finished Pre-Organic Chem the week before my TEAS! My overall was right at 80% with my cumulative GPA at a 3.406, but I don't know what classes they consider for GPA... I've heard a core group of 7, A&P I, Statistics, English 111 and 112, etc but honestly I'm not 100% sure about that. Have you heard anything along those lines?

Do do you have the TEAS V prep book? If not I have it if you want it. Just let me know. You'll kill it this next time I'm sure!!

Hope you're having a great weekend!!

I used the TEAS prep book and I scored an 80.7%. She said I'm right in the middle. I learned they take all the applicants, assign them a number and put your info into a spreadsheet. That is how they select. She suggested I retake it so she can use any of the areas I score higher in. I got an 85% on the reading, 80% on math and English and a 77% on science (my lowest area was scientific reasoning.) I've heard most people perform better the second time. I sure hope so. I read that you get the same test the second time around. I'm not going to stress over the reading like I did the first time, I will focus on the other 3 subjects (that were given to me on the report.) I wasn't planning on retaking it. I felt pretty confident about my score along with the A's I have in A&P, Chemistry, Stats, Eng 112. However, if I didn't retest and then didn't get in, I would never know if retesting would have made the difference. I'm not sure what determines the GPA either. The recruiter mentioned they look at science and math. I used the prerequisite classes to give myself an idea (3.69%) Thank you for the encouragement. My lab partner from chemistry earned a 92% on her second attempt.

Are you taking any classes this summer? I'm taking Micro and Sociology. In the fall I'm taking A&P 2, ethics and history. I spent yesterday reviewing and retaking one of the practice tests in the back of the TEAS book. I have one online practice test left and I will take it tomorrow so I can review the areas I need to over then next few days.

I apologize for the long post. It's nice to have another person to share information with:)

Have a great weekend!

Michelle
