Science Pre-Reqs Online?

I've decided recently that I want to go back to school to get a degree in nursing. I was previously studying Elementary Education, but stopped years ago after deciding that career path isn't right for me.

I'd taken the science/math/etc pre-reqs previously, but now I have to dive into my science pre-reqs and I'm terrified. I did Human Anatomy and Physiology 1 and the lab and did well but since it was like TWELVE years ago I have to retake it. It's probably for the best anyway since I don't remember anything about it.

I start in the summer. I am considering taking most of my courses online. What has been your experience with online courses? I have three kids (ages 11, 9, and 1.5) and a full-time job so I need a lot of flexibility. I was considering taking three classes a semester til I was done with the nine classes I need. (A&P1/Lab, A&P2/Lab, CHEM/Lab, Micro/Lab and an intro to healthcare field course that is mandatory for my school.) Am I deluding myself? Keep in mind I've always done well in college.

Your post made me gasp! That's a hefty workload while working ft with kids!! I am certain there are ppl who do it but it would make me cry. I have a 4.5 yo and a 22m old. I work full time. Last semester I took 7 credit hours (ap1 and a psych) and it was just so much!! I'm a career changer and have a desire to be done soon. I'm also a good student, so I get where you're coming from. Anatomy is a beast. Can you take it alone?! Nursing schools are insanely competitive now so higher scores will serve you well in the long run! That's just my 2c. Good luck to you!!

I don't know...Anatomy doesn't scare me at all, I took it years ago and got an A on it, I remember it was very easy for me.

What DOES scare the bejeezus out of me is Chemistry and Biology.

I took anatomy and physiology 1 online and made a B. mind you this included the lab portion also. I had three dissections to do on my own to a pig, sheep brain, and cow eye. This semester I'm taking A&P 2 online and Gen Chem online also. I have a one year old and I'm taking two other classes while I wait to take my state exam in a few weeks to become certified nursing assistant. Yes it is hard but its doable.

futurenlvenia, do you also work full time? You're already doing a LOT but I'm just wondering if you work like I do.

I worked also and took a cna course at the college. Once I become certified I will be placed in a LTC facility thru the hospital here.
