Saline Lock

Published

Hi, I am a new LPN in a private run facility. A resident was left with a saline lock a few days after the IV fluids were discontinued. Did I need an actual order to remove the saline lock?

Yes where I am from an order is required. You don't want to be the nurse that pulled the lock only to have the Doc. Reorder fluids, and everyone flips a bird because their a hard poke. Always cover your butt. And also a little off topic, for any new LPN's and any other nurses out there be aware that your signature is your stamp of approval, every time you sign something, your vouching your license. Always always always double or triple check before you sign, and never sign blindly for another nurse. Just sayin!
