Hi everyone,
I currenly finished 1st year nursing at McMaster University. Due to personal/family problems, I ended up failing some courses and I ended up getting kicked out of university. Now my options got a little slimmer. It's either:
1.) I upgrade my courses (This seems pretty risky because I don't know how many people they accept for reinstatement and it also costs a lot of money - I don't know if it'll be worth it). Apply for reinstatement at McMaster University on February 2012 and wait for their decision.
2.) I applied for the Practical Nursing program at Mohawk and currently waiting for their decision. I've never been so nervous about it. I have an 84.5 average and I did my HOAE.. my performance for that test was mediocre.. let's just say like 75ish. To all RPN/PN who went to Mohawk before, is this enough to get me in? I know the competition for that program is tough so I'm hoping I will get in.
3.) I take Pre Health in order to get in for the Practical Nursing/Nursing program.
Any suggestions?

I can't be of much help, but- because I have applications in for Practical Nursing and Pre-Health as well, some of it is fresh in my mind. I remember reading recently that if you have already got university courses, they won't let you use Pre-Health as a route to the BScN program. Here is the link- it's mentioned in bold print, just above the admission requirements section.

Sorry it's not advantageous for you, but at least you know you can cross that off your list. Might still be worth asking- they might consider your case individually, but all the admissions advisors for the colleges are on strike so it will have to wait until they get that sorted.
Good luck to you...I hope your situation has improved.

Hey Starfish,
You are right it says on the link that I can't use Pre Health as a route to the BScN program but I'll try to ask them and ask them about their opinion on my matter. They said that admissions for January will be released MAYBE October (they will deal with it till the strike is finished.)
I also called McMaster and they will let me know tomorrow.
