rotating shift schedule in the OR

Hi there,

I am working in a German Hospital and since 6 month we work so confused, because our new management is not able to do it well with the schedules.:banghead: She refuse the old system ( I make everything new and better :saint: ) and 95% of the staff are dissatisfied. I am there since one year and had a look at the system. I,t is not possible to get help from my colleagues here, because they feel ignored from the new management and want to boycott her in all the ways she is going.

My question : isn't there a PC program I can use to reorganize the schedule and offer it to the management, because I am sort of neutral to her and to my colleagues. What are your experience ?

Our working hours:

7.30am/4.00pm; 11.00am/6.30pm; 6.30pm/7.30am

personally, i doubt that you can find one.. if there is, it'll cost you.

the manager is suppose to be equipped with the knowledge and skills in scheduling and staffing. there are a lot of variable involved that a computer program is very much limited to what its taught to do. variables such as on call and vacation leaves, sick leaves are not easily integrated into a program. besides the programmer himself should know what to teach the program, and only a nurse manager can do that - how many nurses are programmers? :D

ive tried looking for one myself a couple of years back, wasnt able to.

i wish you get to have what you need..hoping someone will give as help

Thanks Ghorjus_hunk,

I tryed myself too. Even in the open office forum it was no reply I can use. So I have to hope that she is managing her part and we should enjoy some day a less chaotic schedule plan. usually hope dies at least :smokin:

you know what, i dunno if this could work at your unit...

it may be possible that you can do sort of a "self-scheduling" system "among" your staff members. its like asking each other what schedule one would prefer, then probably you could come up with a relatively efficient schedule amongst yourselves. of course this is to only "help" your manager come up with a schedule system that will suit you guys.. :D

boycott wouldnt do a thing, IMO :D

hey, thats a good idea, I will talk to a few of my mates. We try it then in a small space. If it works, that would be great !!
