RNC....Which one??

Hi there!

All of you out there with your RNC or anyone else thinking about doing it, I have a question...

Which one should I go for....Inpt OB, Maternal/Nwbn, Low-risk NB, NICN?

Thanks!

Jen

talk to your manager and others to get input. You want to do the one that is BEST for your career, and if that is not clear, then the one that you like the most. If you are floating a lot you want the one that covers more patient types. Review the outlines for each - something might jump out as "Oh! I like that!"

I'm a mother/baby nurse and function as a charge nurse in the regular newborn nursery. (a regular newborn is becoming more and more rare these days! :)) When I do go for my cert exam it will be in either low-risk neonate or maternal-newborn.

Do you do all four? Which one is your favorite? If all other things are equal, I'd do the one I like the best...makes studying easier. :)

I am certified in Inpatient Obstetrics and am primarily an L&D nurse. It was a lot of L&D with some PP and a little WB.
