RN PROGRAM

Hi everyone;

I finished the LVN/LPN program in California in 2006, now I live in Milwaukee, WI and i will like to continue with my education, some school advisors had told me that I can not transfer any of my credits because they are old (I went to private school, so I have no pre-reqs).

I went to Bryant and Stratton college and they will give credit for two classes, but I dont know anyone who has finished the program there recently, to give a better idea how it is, if anyone can give any input I will appreciate, this school ia pricey by the way so thas why I will like to know a little bit more and not been kick out in the middle of the program and get stock with the loans! Thank You all

    The Wisconsin Technical College System might be a good idea if you're looking for an affordable education. MATC has a good ADN program, but it sounds like you're going to have to take classes again anyway even if you go through B&S, and what are two courses in the long run if you're paying three times as much as something else you can afford? If you're looking for a BSN program, UW Milwaukee might be an option. Alverno College also has a good BSN program and their financial aid office and advisers are usually good about helping students find financial aid options to cover costs (they were for me when I was there, at least). These are the schools I've had experience with at least, hopefully others have more insight on other programs in the area. :)

    Do look around and while credits for two classes is better than nothing, check out national accreditation, NCLEX pass rates, total investment, etc. In my case, I received ZERO credits/classes out of 93 credits with a 3.98 GPA because the school I went to previously (graduated 1984) was a non accredited business school. On a related, but separate note, most schools will not accept certain science classes that are 5 or more years old (it varies by school as to whether the demark is 5 years, 7 years, or 10).
