RN with difficulty finding work

Hello all,

I am an RN that was employed for 12 years at a hospital. The majority of my experience was in ER. I did have some personal problems during my final year, that contributed to an outcome of a resignation, a settlement, and a sealed HR record. I've had four interviews elsewhere, that were not successful in a new position. These were done early last summer. Almost 1.5 years have gone by, and I am concerned about becoming viewed as not having recent experience. In addition, I had some difficulty with the prospective employers' request of providing a reference from a manager, as I did have a lot of friction with this individual.

During the time being off, I have managed to address, cope, overcome, and deal with my personal problems and stressors. I know that I can and be the experienced nurse that I once was, without the issues that affected me. I am just feeling discouraged nothing came out of the last job search. I am also concerned that my age may be a factor as well.

I am just looking for any input and suggestions, as I am about to actively seek employment again .

Thanks !
