Residency programs VA, NC, FL

Does anyone know how competitive the residency programs are in Virginia, near Raleigh NC, or near Tampa FL? It is really difficult to find current information because of COVID and I don't want to uproot my family if I won't be able to get a job. I will be graduating with my BSN next Summer and I have some hospital experience as a temp hire for COVID patient care tech for a few months. If I could get a job an ER I might consider forgoing the residency, but its my understanding that most want either EMT/Paramedic history or ICU experience.
