Ready to be a nurse

Published

Hey everyone I graduated from LPN school 20 yrs ago. I have taken boards twice. and failed both times. Once when I first graduated and then 5 yrs later. I am ready to be a nurse. I ahve worked in the medical field for the last 8 yrs (CNA,MA,EKG Tech). I am now the CA in the school clinic. Should I buy review books and study for the NCLEX-PN again or should I try to get into an RN program? Any suggestions. P.S. I have been to school in the last 20 years. I have gotten an Associates and a Bachelor's degree. Thanks for your input.

Hi black princess maybe you should get enrolled for the RN program ,twenty years is a long time .trends have changed over these years.things might be different now from when you last studied.best of luck hun

Hi black princess! You mentioned that you have your bachelors degree- definitely go for your BSN! There are many programs across the country that offer 16 month bridge programs for students who already hold their bachelors degree (in ANY field). You may need a few pre-reqs but it'll be worth it in the end! No need for you to take a step back when you've already got so much experience and education under your belt! Go for that BSN girl!!!

If money and time is no issue, then get your BSN.

If you are wanting to work as a nurse ASAP, I'd be a little curious as to what your board of nursing would say. I wonder if they would let you take the Nclex after doing a refresher course. With that, you can work as a nurse sooner. If you still decide to get your RN, at least you could work as a nurse while in school. Passing your Nclex PN just seems to be the quicker, cheaper route if they give you the OK.

Thanks I was second guessing the RN program because its so hard to get in the program. Dallas,TX has a big demand.
