I took a cna course in 06 my last year of high school. I passed the course with flying colors however I never took my boards b/c I never thought that I would actually use it considering I was getting ready to go to college. However, now that I am going back to school for my RN degree I would really like to work as a cna while I obtain my RN. So my question is have I waited too long to become certified and will have to take the course over??

Here's a link to the necessary paperwork and information:
Virginia Board of Nursing Forms and Applications
From reading the forms, it sounds like all you need is a certificate or a letter from the school stating that you did indeed complete a course there. According to the application manual, as long as you completed a course after 1982 it should be OK, no need to get a new one (as long as you already have one).
Don't quote me on it, but that's what I got from reading.
Good luck!
