Question about Prairie View Application

Published

I'm applying to Prairie View A&M for the Spring '11 and I have run into confusion during this whole process.

Question 1) on the application checklist, it says PV nursing needs a printed copy of our Texas Commons Application. When I applied, I did not print out that application because I did not know they needed the copy and it's no longer on file on the Texas common's website. Has anyone come across this issue before? I have never heard of a student needing to send in a hard copy of the application.

Question 2) I was looking over the Pre-Nursing checklist for admission and on item number 7 it says mail completed app, essay, and letter of recommendations. I have not seen an letter of recommendation forms except for the ones in the Graduate Program packet and this list is the only place that speaks of a letter of recommendation. How many letter of recommendations are required (since item 7 doesn't specify an amount) and where would I find the letter of recommendation forms.

Question 3) I noticed that for the statistics requirement, PV requires a psychology statistics instead of just a regular statistics. Does anyone know if they would accept my Elementary Statistics class that I took at UT or would it have to be a psychology statistics?

Question 4) Does anyone know how long it would take the school to recieve my HESI score after I take the exam? I take my exam August 18 but the priority deadline is September 1 and the official deadline is October 1.

Question 5) I have finished all my science prereqs. The only classes I have to take now is Hist 2, Speech, the computer class, and possibly statistics again if they do not accept my elementary statistics. Could this possibly be reason to put me on a waiting list even though I have finished all my science prereqs?

that's all the questions I have for now. Thanks in advance to all that answer

Hello akwugo,

Im gonna try to answer all your questions to the best of my knowledge..

1. If you applied through Applytexas.org, they should have your application in their record.. there's a tab "My Applications" which will have all the schools that you applied to. When you click "view," you should see the complete application that you submitted and print that out to send to PV.

****FYI: Make sure you applied for Spring 2011!!! (CON won't accept the application if it was for the semester before)

2. I am not too sure of letter of recommendations since I didn't have to submit one. You don't need any kind of form for it. You just request it from a professional (professor, employer, etc....)

3. For statistics, I took a beginner Stats at WCJC and they accepted it. I would still suggests you to look at the "Pre-reqs Exchange Grid" to see if the course you took is listed there. To be on the safe side, you can still email the lady to make sure.

4. Elsevier should email you around 1st of Sep that your scores are available to view. When they email you (thats within a month of the date you take the test), that's when the scores are available to the school. The deadline of October 1st is for you to submit your application, essays, etc... Ones they know that you made a certain score that you need to for HESI, they will give you the Upper Division application, which you will have to submit before the actual deadline, Oct 1st.

5. Since you have completed your Science courses and only have about 3 classes to take, I would not think they would put you on a waiting list. That's just what I think. They do give priority to the students who have completed everything or are almost complete and submitted their application on time.

Don't quote my words. I would highly suggests you to deliver everything yourself at CON, if you live nearby. You will know if you are missing something, rather than waiting for them to respond to you.

Good luck!!!!
