Hi all!! This is my first post here and I had a question. I left the restaurant industry after 10 years with dreams of becoming a nurse, HOWEVER, i had a horrible incident many years ago and I dont know if it will affect me or not. I was FALSLEY accused of lewd and licidious behavior, the police wouldnt listen to me and i was arrested. I went to court to fight it, and the people who made the charges didnt even show up, I even found out they wouldnt even return the prosecutors phone calls. ANYWAY, my lawyer said I should just take the probationary period and that the charges would be dropped and I could then have it expunged, at the time I thought it was a great idea, so I went with it and the charges were dismissed. Now, reading these forums and how expungements mean NOTHING to the BON and everything Im scared. I have no comvictions of anything in my past, just these charges that were dismissed. Can they deny you just for something you were accused of?

My friend was in your shoes worrying about a criminal history and the state boards...she had a misdemeanor expunged like 5 yrs ago and was scared to even apply for licensure but did and was approved to take the NCLEX...my answer to you is you really have nothing to worry about. If you dont have a criminal record, the boards are not too much concerned with arrest as much as convictions, if at all. On the app it asks have you been convicted of, plead guilty to or no contest and been rendered a guilty verdict and not charged with. So if you dnt have ab actual conviction your getting worry lines for nothing...good luck!:)
