I'm planning on applying to a CNM program a year or so after graduation (from my current BSN program). I've been looking at some applications, specifically Yale & Georgetown and they both require that at least one of the letters of reference be from a nursing school faculty member.
My question is...would it be appropriate to ask an instructor to write such a letter and then hold on to it until I actually apply? I'm a little concerned that if I wait (at least 2 or 3 semesters will have passed) to obtain such a letter they may not remember me well enough to write a "good" letter.

Don't worry.
I applied to CNM school 15 years after my BSN.
They pull your stats and write a pretty generic letter that says yes, you were in the program and had a GPA of whatever and based on that they recommend you for graduate school.
There was no one left in my BS program who remembered me as a student; but wrote a letter based on my grades.
Hope this helps.
