Tncc 8th edition
hey guys. I'm set up for my first class for tncc. I'm feel sort of confident in the skills portion, however I'm petrified for the written test. I work ED Obs, so I don't get trauma at all, ever. I'm doing this in hope that I can work the actually ED. Is there any place I can practice questions worth my wild? Any tips or suggests how to go in this without feeling like I'm about to suffocate? I have absolutely no idea how to prepare for this test. Thanks!

From psych to neurocritical care
Hey guys! I'm about to transfer from psych to ncc. I'll be doing an ICU internship. However, in the mean time, I was curious if any of you know of any good reads out there? I would much rather prefer a book that's more entertaining conversational style type read, than the basic text book type material... hopefully that makes sense. Anyways, thanks for any recommendations!

Asking for a raise
Thank you so much! With your original comment. It help me think and try to justify why I feel the way I do. Hopefully, it's strong enough case to my employer. Thanks for the tip about no comparison. I was concern whether I should mention that at all. Thanks for the help!

Asking for a raise
I did consider the specific psych experience part that you had mentioned. I have also done a senior psych for many years prior as well, just not adolescent or adult. however, I'm the go-to for medical situations because of their lack of. Also, since I'm versatile because of my experience, I'm floated to other areas. The CNA part for my hospital does count as nursing experience. I feel as though I deserve a little more, not much, but little. Either way, I plan on speaking with my employer. I just wanted to know how to go about it without coming off disrespectful.

Dating a former patient
I'm not going to discuss whether I think this is right or wrong. That's on you in the end. I am, however, curious as to how this relationship occurred. Also, what dx he had. Im a RN at an acute psych inpatient. I, for one, would never allow a personal relationship with a pt or former pt. No matter the circumstances. Our facility does not allow for our last name to be shown, specifically so a pt cannot follow/contact us outside of treatment. It's for our own safety. How did this relationship happened? Specially if you told him it wasn't acceptable? also, was he a MDD, schizoaffective, bipolar manic? theres different degrees for mental illness. I feel like what you have originally posted left a lot of questions.

Asking for a raise
They have told me. Also, I had To show them how to access their pay stubs. The idea of talking to my employer about it makes my stomach sink. I'm also afraid I'll come off disrespectful. I plan on talking to them about it. I just don't know exactly how I should voice it.

Asking for a raise
Hi everyone. Needed some direction here. As you can read the title. I'm curious how to go about asking my employer for a raise. This topic is uncomfortable for me, however I feel wronged here. I know we should not talk about our pay between co workers, but we do. I work in an acute psych inpatient facility. Currently, I'm the lowest paid nurse. With that said, I have 3 yrs experience as a RN ASN, and 6 years for CNA. I have a few other nurses whose base pay is 3-4 dollars higher. These nurses have 2-3 years experience in psych as a RN ASN, and that's it, and have worked there less than I ( I have been employed at this hospital for 1year). Yet like I stated, they pay them 3-4 dollars more. Discussing experience, within my total 9 years, 6 as a CNA. The last 3 years as a RN, I have done pediatric, rehab, long term, Alzheimer's/dementia, women's health, and now acute psych. I want to go about this professionally, of course, and would like help figuring out the best way to approach this. Thanks for the help!

Leaving current job after only 5 months
I get it. My new place of work needed an RN because they were switching to moderate sedation. I was hired specifically for that. They never hired an RN because they never needed one. I was their first. That was back in September last year (when I was hired)

Transferring a RN license
When I sent in my application, I received an email stating my app will go through several phases, and that I would be notified with each phase. When it went from primary phase to secondary, I received an email. I ended up checking my application status yesterday, my "secondary phase" is now at "final review". I'm surprised I didn't get an email. Oh well! I've heard stories that transferring can take months! Which is fine, however, I was beginning to let my mind and all bad things that could possibly happen get to me. I even heard it takes Cali 6 months. Man-o-man!

Transferring a RN license
I never said that. I also mentioned that I didn't know what the process was. Which is why I was asking.

Transferring a RN license
I wonder if fingerprints are a thing for every state. Of course, I know Indiana is. Colorado failed to mention that if that's the case. Then I assume, I couldn't get a new license until I move out there? I have applied for jobs and I have a phone interview next week. Maybe I jumped the gun to quick? I lived in IN for my entire 25 years. These new stressors are getting the best of me. Thank you for the kindness!

Transferring a RN license
How cool! I just assumed that my Indiana license number would follow me as I go! Now, if only they could give me an idea of when I will possibly receive this new license (if I do)

Transferring a RN license
Is your new MI license a compact? I understand the purpose of a compact license, I just don't know if that holds any affect of time to transfer your license since Indiana isn't compact? How long till you received yours? Did you also receive a different license number for your new license? Ha! So many questions. :)

I'm not transferring my license? If I meet all requirements, do they issue a new license number?

Transferring a RN license
Hello! Excuse me as I have only been a member to this site today. This could as well even be placed in the wrong section. I've been a nurse for 1.5yrs. I'm illiterate to the process of transferring my license. I never heard of a license compact state. I'm from Indiana. We are not a compact state. I'm moving to Colorado July 15th. As mention that I'm illiterate, I've been wondering about the process of transferring my Indiana license to Colorado. I did the application for endorsement, paid the fee, did the nursys.com part, paid that fee. I submitted my application in 2.5 weeks ago. I received an email saying my application will go through several phases. My application has been "stuck" in the second phase for 1.5 weeks now. I'm a newer nurse, I passed my boards, I'm currently working, my license is in good standing, there's no criminal background. I have never even had a ticket. Should I be worried? When I call, I'm on hold waiting to talk to someone for a solid 15-20 mins before I give up. Before I submitted my app, I sent an email about the process, it took them 2 weeks before they replied. Any nurses that can help? Money wise, I'm self sufficient for probably 6 months, maybe less. This is just started to stress me out thinking that they will deny me. Help?
