Sacramento State (CSUS) Fall 2015 applications
I scored in the 70's and 80's on the two online practice exams I took, and then scored in the 90's on the actual exam. I'm not sure why, but I think those practice exams may be more difficult. Of course, it may just be random, so don't take my word for it :) Good luck!

I think this page shows that there was at least one class last winter intersession that would satisfy the requirement for some depending on the score you received: Class Schedule For English - WinterIntersession2014 | Sac State So there may be hope for those who don't do well. But who knows how hard it is to get into a class like that. Hopefully we all do well and we don't even need to worry about it :)

This is the Sac State website with all the info you need: Writing Programs : GWAR for Juniors Personally, I feel confident in my writing ability to pass the WPJ exam, but I still plan to go to one of the GWAR information workshops just to get a better feel for what it will be like. We only get one shot at it, so it better be good :) I'm curious when everyone is planning on taking the WPJ exam. If we don't pass it for whatever reason, we'll end up needing to take a class before the spring semester. Do they offer the needed English classes During Winter intersession for those that don't pass the WPJ exam?

I was trying to find out the same thing. I called the company that makes them to try and get a size chart or something but no one answered so I left a message. I'll let you know once I hear back from them :)

Ya, I have the same thing. I'm assuming it just means what it says and that the hold will stay in place until we go to orientation on June 17th. Not much else we can do about it until then.

Has anyone received the Pre-Entry Requirements Checklist yet that they said would be sent in late May?

Finally Done With Pre-Reqs!
Congrats Kryptonite! I just finished up my prereqs last week. I got accepted to Sac State on the condition that I passed my classes this semester, so it felt REALLY good to finally be done! I did the same as you and got all the corequisite classes out of the way too so I can just focus on the core nursing classes now. Go us! Hehe

renting vs buying ebooks & online access texts
I am a proponent of ebooks and have been using them for years in my studies and personal reading. That being said, research seems to indicate that retention is better when reading physical books VS ebooks. So you should take that into consideration as well when weighing your options. Here's one article about the phenomenon: Readers absorb less on Kindles than on paper, study finds | Books | The Guardian

Ya, we probably don't need to submit any paperwork for the HIPAA module yet. I just got confused by the instructions on the PDF

Sacramento State (CSUS) Fall 2015 applications
It looks like the email that was sent and the instructions in the PDF attached to that email don't jive completely. I guess I got a little ahead of myself with doing all 4 modules already since only the HIPAA module needed to be done by May 7 (according to the email). But the PDF explained that we should do all 4 and then print out and send a hard copy of the transcript, so that's where my confusion came from I suppose. Anyway, the hold music was driving me nuts so I figured I'll just send what I have and hopefully we'll all find out what Mangus is when they send us more info towards the end of the month

I also had to add the modules manually, although I added all 4 not just HIPAA. The 4 modules mentioned in the instructions are Rapid Regulatory Compliance: Clinical I, Rapid Regulatory Compliance: Clinical II, Hazardous Communication, and HIPAA. I was able to search for each and add them that way. So at least I got them completed. I just wish I knew what Mangus is. I think I'll just call the HealthStream customer service # to see if they have any idea :)

In the instructions for HealthStream Online, did anyone notice the phrase "After successful completion of the 4 modules, Sac State students will need to hit the ‘printer icon' and send hard copy of their ‘transcript' of all four modules and Mangus." ? What is Mangus? lol

Actually, it looks like they answered that question in the email sent out yesterday: "Mark your calendar to attend mandatory University orientation on Wednesday, June 17, 2015,Transfer Orientation. Watch your email for your invitation from the orientation office! The invitation will be sent to the email address you provided on your nursing application and also to your My Sac State, Message Center." So it looks like we'll be getting an invite to register for the June 17th orientation :)
