Today was my first day working day shift after orientation. I put a resident on the toilet. Then I told her to hold onto the sink and stand up so I can pull up her pants. While I was pulling up her pants, her knees began to bend like she couldn't stand anymore, but she was still holding onto the sink. So I lowered her onto the ground with my leg, then I pressed the call light to call for help. The charge nurse came and asked if she was in pain and she said no. Then she helped pull her up. Then she filled out a witness statement and it's counted as an assisted fall. She also had to call the doctor and the director of nursing. She told me that I should use a hoyer lift next time. But I thought it was okay to transfer without a lift because I transferred her from bed to wheelchair and wheelchair to toilet with no problems. Also, no one told me she needs a lift and there is no care plan or paper that says that. I learned that I should always ask people if the resident needs a lift to transfer if it's the first time I'm doing a resident. My fault was that I didn't ask if I should use a lift or not. I should have used a lift. But the resident didn't bump into anything or injure herself. I just lowered her to the ground and she was holding on to the sink the whole time. Her vital signs seemed okay except for her temperature. 92.4 F, 60bpm, 18 respirations/min, 130/90, 97% spO2. Anyways, I am super worried. Do you think I will get fired for this or will this go on my permanent record? The charge nurse said the director of nursing might yell at me, but I won't be in any big trouble. This is the first fall I've ever encountered. Have any of your patients fallen before? I'm sorry. This is my first CNA job and my first time working day shift. What do you think will happen?

I'm a new CNA. Today, I was passing trays. While I was passing trays to other people, one resident's tray fell on her body. I changed her linens, cleaned her up, and changed her clothes. The charge nurse saw that her arm got a 1st degree burn from hot tea spilling on it. She had me fill out an incident report. What I did wrong was that I put the tray on the resident's table and had it in front of her. I was supposed to wait until I was ready to feed her before I gave her her tray. But I didn't know this because I was new. Also, a few days ago, I gave her her tray and she fed herself, so I thought it was ok to give her her tray. The charge nurse told me not to worry because I'm new and didn't know. She told me that we learn from our mistakes. Do you think I'm in big trouble? Do you think I'll get fired? How long do you think it'll take a 1st degree burn to heal?

I work part time as a CNA so I wear scrubs to school. But people stare at me and ask me if I'm a nursing student and why I'm wearing scrubs. I feel like they think I'm pretending to be a nursing student or something. But the nursing students wear white and I wear ciel blue. I don't know. Do you think people would think that I'm pretending to be a nursing student because I wear scrubs to school?

I applied online for a CNA job at a small nursing home. The next morning, they emailed me and called back asking to schedule an interview and asked about my availability. However, they never scheduled an interview. They just asked me to go to orientation. The orientation is only 2.5 hours for one day. They said to dress casually and to bring my paperwork. Does this mean I got the job or not? I'm confused since I never met them in person or had an interview. Would I do patient care during the orientation? Is it really okay to dress casually? I'm scared that I might forget the skills since I graduated last August and haven't started applying for jobs until this month. Sorry for asking so many questions. I am just very confused and nervous. So does orientation mean I got the job? Or might there be an interview after that? Thanks!
