  1. MONTGOMERY!! Finally sent out acceptance letters!!!!
  2. Yazi - have you ever received anything MORE than a minor traffic ticket? If NOT then no, you do not need a DO, when you do your background check through the BON they will send you a BLUE CARD in the mail, and that is what you will turn in to the nursing program.
  3. Ayala - you NEED to get your DO done. During the process of a DO you DO A BACKGROUND CHECK. The BON runs a background check on you when you submit a DO to see if anything pops up on your background. DO NOT WAIT TO FINISH THE DO. This process can take up to ONE YEAR and if you don't have a DO or a Blue Card by the deadline for the nursing program then you do not get in. They will give your spot up to an alternate who has a cleared background.
  4. I hope it's not a full week! I'm thinking Monday! Lol I hope!!
  5. Amblerly you either have a DO or a blue card. Everyone has to do a background check, but if you have a DO already that means you have already done your background check and because you have a previous arrest you filed for a DO saying that the BON will allow you to sit for your NCLEX. If someone has no previous arrests they still do a background check but instead receive a blue card. Then you either submit your blue card or a copy of the DO to the nursing program. Hope that helps!
  6. Also, I went in and talked to them while on campus yesterday and she said she submitted the list of applicants to the BON (I think to see who has already done a background check) and that it takes 10 days for them to process it, which is why it is taking so long. She also said that she has the emails ready to go, all she has to do is wait for the list back! Soooo I'm pretty sure we all got in!
  7. I received the same email! At least its a little hope! lol!!
  8. Okay so I called Montgomery and she still said it would be a week or so! AAHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. Still waiting for Montgomery!! Was thinking about calling??
  10. ayala3 - I THINK it is anything other than a traffic ticket you have to report, but not 100% sure. Call the BON tomorrow. I will warn you, it takes FOREVER to get someone on the phone but just keep hanging on the line, don't hang up! Someone will eventually answer!
  11. Ayala3 - Not to worry you or anything, but get on this BON Declaratory Order, like TOMORROW!!! It will pop up on your background check and then your just asking for trouble from the nursing program. You either have to turn in a blue card (which is an "all clear" type of check) OR a declaratory order if you have ANY previous arrests. The process can take up to ONE year if they feel it necessary to look further into your arrest. My D.O. (for a wrong place wrong time arrest - which my charges were dropped IMMEDIATELY) took a few months because my finger prints were sent to the wrong place and blah blah blah. Bottom line is, you should have taken care of this already. The BON doesn't play around with criminal records of any sort because peoples lives are literally in your hands. So please please start the process RIGHT NOW!
  12. ANY TIME NOW MONTGOMERY! This is wait is terrible...
  13. Still waiting on Montgomery! I haven't received any letters at all. I am HOPING it is because I DID get into Mont. since I didn't get anything from Tomball (my 2nd choice). This is stressful, I just want to know for sure!
  14. Yazi, don't worry the program will provide you will all the info you need!
  15. Yay so excited for you guys! Still waiting to hear from Montgomery of course. I haven't received any emails yet
  16. Hey y'all! I know it's a terrible waiting game! I don't think anyone will find out soon because all campuses have to coordinate with each other. So if there is a delay at Montgomery there is a delay everywhere. I think previous years Montgomery sent our traditional mail which is why it took longer for those students to find out. Also, they TELL you 3-4 weeks but I don't think it usually takes that long. Last semester and Amberly you can probably back me up on this. We were accepted as alternates maybe 2 1/2 weeks after the app period closed. Hang in there all! I know it's stressful!!
  17. Ahh the dreaded waiting game begins! And Amberly27 is right. You don't need to do any background stuff until you get accepted UNLESS you have some sort or arrest/criminal history then you have to get a declaratory order from the BON saying you will be able to sit for the NCLEX when the time comes.
  18. Thanks y'all! I ended up enrolling in a 10 week online class with only 4 face to face meetings.
  19. Hey all, I wanted to see who HASN'T taken micro yet? and if not, when are you planning on taking it? I am unsure wether to take it this summer in a 6 week mini or the summer between 1st and 2nd year nursing? Thoughts?? The biggest issue is the limited times they are giving for this semester at montgomery. The only 6 week class is from 10-2 Mon-Thur! Thats smack in the middle of the day so everyones work schedule would be screwed! I couldn't work in the morning, and I couldn't work in the afternoon! I am hoping that the next summer woud be better, but I am afraid to chance it! Heeellllpppp!!!
  20. Hey all, just wanted to attempt to update the list with everyone's 1st choices added to it. I may have missed some or made mistakes so please feel free to correct them! :) ChrisScott - 11.7 Montgomery dfurey - 11.73 Tomball mrskebo - 11.7 Tomball or Cyfair? joannapril15 - 11.65 Tomball Krw2013 - 11.6 Montgomery Ashleyb86 - 11.54 Montgomery Nightingale360 - 11.52 Tomball spring housewife - 11.43 LVN Montgomery ADN Montgomery Kenken - 11.3 Montgomery Future_wonder_woman - 11.25 N.H abaker6 - 11.15 ?? leahgirl100 - 11.1 Montgomery Sparklesmedic- 11.1332 N.H. 21. I was just looking at the thread from last year and Montgomery students found out about 2 weeks after everyone else. I think Montgomery sends out traditional mail instead of email. MAYBE we will get lucky and they will change it this year! The students accepted to Montgomery didn't get their letters until April 17! UGGHH! TIME MOVE FASTER!
  22. Thanks for making the chart SparklesMedic! Just wanted to throw it out there that I have a X-ray student whose daughter is finishing up the nursing program at Montgomery, and she said there were alternates accepted in the 10s who made it into the program because there were some students who were accepted but couldn't get finances in order, paperwork in order, or pass drug screenings, ect. So even if you get accepted as an alternate don't get down on yourself. It's obviously no guarantee, but a chance!
  23. Thanks y'all! Redhen84 I took Pharm last semester with Janet Harris. I made an A with her, it wasn't bad at all!
  24. Hey All! I am so excited I just turned in my application to Montgomery for the Fall 2014 Basic Track start! I have been a Radiology Tech for 4 (going on 5) years and decided it was not fulfilling enough for me, so here I am back in school! I am applying with an 11.6! I put Tomball as my second choice, but didn't apply to NH or CyFair because of distance! Good luck to all, and look forward to checking back in with you all!
  25. galyawaller I think there are 40 alternate spots. When I talked to an advisor in May she said Kingwood accepts 120 applicants, 80 and 40 alternate. She told me last year there wan't enough applicants to fulfill all spots, and it seems to be that way this year also.
