Miley I know that this is an old post but I was wondering what route you ended up going. I am also an LPN in the Rochester, NY area looking to bridge to my RN and I am still running into the same issues you listed in your original post.

This is very similar to the 911 call from an ALF in CA where a resident wasn't breathing and the woman on the phone with 911 was a nurse but told the operator that she wasn't able to perform CPR because it was against company policy. As a current 911 operator I can only imagine how hard it was for that operator to not have anyone to help the resident because that is what we are trained to do - talk the common person through until EMS arrives. Although if you are employed with that facility and it is company policy then you would be giving up your job to help that person. It's a very tough spot, I can only imagine any nurse in that position would have some sort of internal struggle over what they feel they should do and what they can do per policy.

I plan on it but in my area there is at least a 2 year wait list to get into an RN program. Although the lpn program that I will be starting has bridge options with some of these programs giving program entrance preference to current lpn's. I can have my RN completed about the same time I would be getting into the RN program as a non-lpn.

Rhino - Go to the local office of your bank, most bank officers are Notaries and won't charge a fee if you are a customer with them. You can also check with your town/county clerk they are notaries too!!

Looking for a check in from other New York State LPN students. What program are you in, when did you start or when do you start? I am in the Rochester area and am starting a BOCES LPN program in September. I have checked out other BOCES programs throughout the state and they all seem to be a bit different, some are accredited and other are not. I just want to get a general idea of what the program is like. If I could find someone from my BOCES program that is currently or has recently went through it that would be great!! 33 year old wife and mother of 2 (5 and 1) from NY. I start my LPN program in Sept. and can't wait!! Looking forward to doing this and knowing that we are all in a similar boat!! After completion of my program I plan on getting started in the field to build my experience while I do my RN.

Hello everyone - I have been following the site for the past couple of months and finally joined today when I received my acceptance letter to the PN program!! I am so excited to get started on this new adventure in my life!
