Hey guys I wanted to give you all a quick update. Yes I did apply for the residency program and I got into the program. The main reason I wanted to be in the program was because of the experienced that it provided because I already had most of the certifications (you have to take your PALS, BLS, ACLS again even if you already have them). They were 5 of us in the program and from my understanding they will only be doing groups of 5 from now on. At the end of the 12 weeks all of us got a job offer. Chances are if you get accepted in the program you will get hired because they have a really high turnover rate. Out of the 5 of us 3 left and I think 2 are still working there (did not keep in touch with them). I am glad that I did the ER residency program because I discover that I absolutely love the ER setting, I love the fact that as an ER nurse I have more freedom, and I love the fact that I do not have to deal with the same pain in the ass patients. To be an ER nurse you have to have a thick skin because anything can walk into the door, and you have to deal with everything. I am currently an ER Nurse at an another facility and I absolutely love it. I love the team work, I love the fact that the nurses are helping each other out and my patient ratio is awesome (4:1), and I don't get treated like an idiot if I don't know something......If you want to apply go for it because if you can make it at Trinitas you can make it ANYWHERE.
