Hi this is late, but I did the transition program LVN to BSN at PV. I graduated last semester and passed NCLEX! Summers are optional but it helps you complete the program faster. The students usually create groups for studying according to your semester. The faculty is also very supportive and they will do review classes if enough students request.

WOW every single detail you all mentioned she observed me for. She said the only thing I did wrong was after I used the b/p machine, I reached inside the bag to get a sanitizing wipe to clean it before returning it. Instead the sanitizing wipes should have been out side the bag! So since she was that particular i'll say I must not have done too bad.

Let me rephrase I didn't mean to sound so vague. I know what bag technique is just want to make sure I have all the steps. Drape between your items and patients furniture, clean and sanitize all supplies before going back into the bag. Maintaining a clean field. What am I missing

I'm a home health nurse in Texas. I've been doing home health for a few years. I was just told the surveyor is at the agency and wants to interview a nurse (the agency choose me) and visit two of my patients. The patients are mostly teaching patients and do not receive any skilled services at this time(drains, vacs, IV's dialysis etc). What am I to expect in the interview and the inspector observing my visit?? Heres what I usually do: I go to patients home usually have some type of conversation with them before I start their visit. Do a partial head to toe asking questions about different body systems specific to patients disease process. (urination, bowel pattern, dietary intake etc) Assess medications (advise of refills, soon to expire medications, ask about different meds if patient understands why they are taking it, and assess compliance) Of course measure b/p, glucose temp, weight Answer any questions (monitor exacerbation's of known disease processes) and keep track of physician visits Some other details I was told this is the department of disability and aging. I don't know much about specific home health policies and procedures Please offer a word of advice

When you are admitted to the university they give you a student ID immediately

I so don't want to go to that transfer day at the main campus!! I'm sure its just a bunch of formalities and basic info which could have been emailed

Sara- were you asking where did I get my LVN certificate? Thats good you got all your shots I'm definitely taking summer classes they had us to fill in a card when we went to pick up the acceptance packages they offered 4 classes over the summer and said we would come 4 days/week

rediclinics are in most HEB's

I have health insurance so I went to the rediclinic I just paid $59 for physical. All tithers, vaccines, and skin test, were billed to my insurance and I paid nothing. The vaccines I needed were the meningitis, flu, and tdap. Then I got tithers for the varicella, MMR, and Hep B. I called the county first but they said my tithers would be $54 for measles, $54 for mumps, $54 for rubella, $54 for Hep B, $54 for varicella so I laughed and found another option! LOL

I finished mine. The tdap was the WORST part my arm is still sore, got the shot 6 days ago, and I had horrible fatigue. Never had symptoms from a vaccine before so I was pretty upset. Also it took like 5 days to get my hep b, varicella and mmr tither results back.

@kerrytha- you can go to any labcorp listed on the paper they gave you.

Kerry-When you go to labcorp and give them the form PV gave you they will know exactly what to do. It will be $35 try to bring exact cash because I had a hard time trying to pay with my card. Also check for when the location you're going to does urine test. I went to the sugarland location and the test were only between 9-11 and 2-4 everyday so call ahead of time. On the criminal background check you just type your name and DOB then once it comes back that no hits were found on your record, you print that page.

@kerrytha- To do the background you just go to that website they gave you and follow the instructions you have to pay for each name you have used in the past.
