I started at Walden in 2013. After reaching my second year in the FNP program, I was forced to change my program to Acute Gerontology, because I could not get into a pediatric office for clinicals.
The first issue with Walden was the requirement to sign the next quarter's preceptor during the first week of the current quarter. This caused me to have to sit out a quarter. They lost some lawsuits over such rules, and changed the rules, but did not inform me. Because of the lack of enlightening the students, I struggled by worrying about the class I was in, while also trying to get the next preceptor to sign everything in that seven day period. They wouldn't let you do it before that first week or after. They changed it to giving you the entire quarter to sign the next person. Sometimes the preceptor would be unavailable. Preceptors would quit on you and you would have to pay the $4,000 fee even if it was a day past the first week or so.
They tried their level best to keep you from graduating. I would have went quickly through but eventually had health issues and had to stop for a while. I was informed that it had been ten years and all my credits are nolonger good.
A lawyer told me a few years ago that he could get me all my money back, but I would lose my credits. It was because of the lawsuits. I refused, because I had worked hard to get that far. I only had three clinical rotations to finish.
So, no I wouldn't go to Walden. I know some people that had no issues and even did two clinical in one quarter. If you don't know a bunch of NPs then go local. NPs don't want to help unless they know you. I am looking at Ohio University.
