  1. Ruby Vee thaaaaank you so much for your response. You are entirely correct that an hour commute isn't outlandish. Your saying that kind of put it into perspective for me. I know I'd work 12's but I have no idea what shift work I'd be doing. Regardless, it's doable if I want it bad enough. I'm thinking maybe I'll wait until Monday to see if I get any calls. If I don't I'll hit the pavement and go to the hospitals I've already applied at just to get some in-person familiarity with the hiring managers. If I don't hear anything by the following Monday, I'll get ahold of the doctor. I don't want to wait around but I want to make sure I did everything I could to get the best option or at least set up a more personal connection for a possible future hire. This helped me a lot. Thank you again.
  2. I just got my license Tuesday. I've applied to tons of places with no call backs yet. Granted, it's been 2 days, but my raging Type A personality is starting to take over and my house can only get so clean. Here is my issue: I have a family situation that makes it to where I will need to relocate about an hour away as soon as possible. The area I'm looking to move to...well...the entire region I live in really is flooded with new grads. To add insult to injury I have my ADN. I have applied to every job within a 45 minute drive from the location we're going to move to with no luck yet. There is a doctor at my current location who has already told me I have a job if I want it. I know, however, that we will be moving and I know I will want to get a job closer to our new home eventually. What I'm having some issues with is the notion of this man doing me a favor, his hospital investing all this money in a new grad, and then me up and bailing. It just doesn't sit right with me. So what do you all recommend? Or am I being over zealous and need to wait a bit longer? Although it's an ADN, I already got my ACLS/PALS/BLS, I was class President, I graduated 2nd in my class, I have tons of volunteer work, and I ran surgery at a dental office for 7 years before nursing school so I do have some work history. Opinions? Pretty please?
  3. Hello Dee :). Yes I did 100% of the q bank and Kaplan tests. I was averaging 68-72. I made sure to read every single rationale, including the questions I got right. I found that although I watched all of the content videos and they were great to refresh all the dusty material stored in my mind, what stuck with me the most was what I picked up from the rationales in the questions. This is especially the case in regards to pharm. I can remember it better when applied to a scenario. I also made it a point to look up content I got wrong as I came across the questions I got wrong, as opposed to making a list and looking all the content up at the end. Seemed to make it stick easier in my tired brain. Best of luck to you!
  4. Because I pride myself on my grammatical capabilities, I inquired on this and have the following for you to read: http://grammar.ccc.commnet.edu/grammar/abbreviations.htm Please scroll down to the box below the section regarding acronyms. Had I titled this "I'M A REGISTERED NURSE" I would have used the article 'a'. However, because I said "AN RN" with a word that began with a vowel sound 'arr' as opposed to a consonant sound 'reh', I used the article 'an'. Thanks for looking out though .
  5. No email yet. I'll letcha know when I do though .
  6. Baha....ah....OH as in "oh by the way". Sorry :).
  7. I'm from California :). And I'm sorry, but what's 'OH'? Still not entirely familiar with forum jargon.
  8. Yes I got the "good pop up". The box with 'status "pending"' on Breeze disappears all together and in the upper right hand corner a box appears with your license number and such .
  9. Congrats Joanna RN!!!! . Cali is way behind. Was surprised to get it as quick as I did.
  10. Woohooooo congrats RN!!!
  11. Thanks you two!!! OH and PVT works as far as I'm concerned. Got the "recently scheduled appointment" pop up and here I am :).
  12. My license just posted on Breeze!!!!!! I'M A LICENSED REGISTERED NURSE!!!!!!!! For Cali people-took my test 1/22. Checked Breeze 10 mins ago. Still said "pending". Checked it just now....AND I'M AN RN!!!!! Ahhhhh happiest girl ever!! So so blessed!!!
  13. If there's one thing nursing school taught me, it's that reviewing something once is okay, reviewing it twice is great, reviewing it three times...never happened in nursing school because I never had time...but would probably have been fantastic . I did not expect to get my letter as soon as I did. When I got it I scheduled my NCLEX ASAP. I subsequently had to break down my study schedule all the way up to the day before to get everything in. If I could have reviewed everything, at least skimming it over, twice I think my stress level would have been alleviated at least a bit going in for my NCLEX. Pleeeaaaase take my advice on this and use every minute. If you get through it and have more time, just look it over again. You'll feel better about your test. ESPECIALLY pharm. Also, this forum gives you the unique opportunity to read the perspective of people that didn't pass. It's very humbling and puts things in perspective. What I kept reading was "I'm going to go and study more". That definitely motivated me when I felt like I couldn't read another single word .
  14. From what I understand, there have been people who get the credit card screen but still passed. A false-negative, if you will. So until you get the for-sure results there could still be a chance you passed. However, if it turns out that you didn't pass just take it in, brush it off, learn from it, review where you were weak and try try again! Never give up .
  15. My average was the same exact amount :). Took mine on 1/22, had 75 questions and per the Pearsonvue trick I passed. Just waiting for it to post on the BON :). Here in Cali we're lagged behind . Way to handle your prep! You got this!
