LVN at American Career College, OC
Sooo i'm starting the program soon (june 30th) and I was hoping some people wouldn't mind helping me out? The pass rate is for NCLEX is 81% .. I consider this to be pretty good, what do you think? I am terrified of failing. I currently live at home with parents, with no financial obligations. I plan on devoting myself to this program. I already have literally NO social life just because i've been distancing myself from friends and getting myself on a strict sleeping schedule. I got an 81% on the HESI, and also passed the entrance exam first try. I am so nervous that once the program starts I will fail. Can anyone please comment on the difficulty of the courses?

Relocating to find work?
Thanks so much for your responses! It has helped. I was recently looking for LVN new grad jobs and came across the corrections options. I know that many people are not comfortable working corrections but I think I would be. It says here: http://hodes.jobhost.org/viewjob.php?id=1215510 That the starting salary for LVN'S with "less than 12 months experience" Does that mean that you can get into a correctional job with no experience? It does not state any minimum experience level. Either preferred or required. When people post on here about everywhere requiring atleast a year experience, I have yet to hear someone mention a correctional job. Usually clinics, hospitals, LTC, etc. Please help me figure this out. I haven't even started my program yet and I'm already worried about having a job!

Relocating to find work?
So i'm about to start an LVN program in OC, California. I have heard all about the difficulty finding a job as an LVN in California (with no experience.) My question is, if i'm willing to relocate, will that make the job hunt easier? I've seen many posts about people looking in California with no luck, but no one really mentions the option of relocating. I would be willing to relocate to any other part of California, or even out of state if the jobs are there. What are your thoughts? Is the job situation just as worse in other states? I'm pretty nervous about this.. Also, newb question, but if I did relocate, say to Texas, or Arizona, and worked there for a year as an LVN, would I then be able to move back to Cali and use that year of experience here? Or does it have to be a year experience in the state you're applying? Thanks in advance to anyone who gives any info Riley

Considering LVN/LPN program
Hi there! I live in North Orange County and i'm considering doing an LVN/LPN course. My eventual goal is to become an RN but my family situation is sticky and I need to be financially independent in order to pursue those goals. I've looked into a few different LVN programs but I'm kind of nervous. My friend attended American Career College, and he has no complaints. However, when I research them online I see nothing but horror stories so that is a little unsettling. Also, i'm worried that after completion of the program, it's going to be difficult to find a job. I've read through many of the new grad RN threads, and it seems near impossible to find a job in Southern California. Is the job market the same for LVN/LPN? Will I be able to find a job? Very scary Also, do employers look down on private programs? I know I should probably go the public route, however, I irresponsibly destroyed my GPA after high-school and that would be a long, long road to repair. Any thoughts on American career college? Anyone who completed their LVN course in OC and was able to find a job? If not, does anyone know of another reputable private college I could get an LVN education at? Please help. I'm desperate.

Nursing noob. So lost and confused..?
Thank you so much for your reply! You clarified alot for me. And thanks for the job pool tip, I didn't even consider not being able to find a job with my ADN. But I have one more question, if you don't mind answering another:p ..seeing as I have no college experience, I'm a little confused about the prereqs. I found the prereqs online for cypress college. In order to enter the program, do I just have to do the specific classes listed to get Into the program? Or do I first have to do two years of general Ed courses, and then the prereqs? Or are the prereqs listed the only classes required to enter the program? Sorry if I sound ridiculous, but I'm young and have literally no college experience.

Nursing noob. So lost and confused..?
I've decided I would like to become a nurse (I live in Southern California.) I know that there is an ADN and a BSN degree, but still have a few questions that hopefully ya'll wouldn't mind answering .. So first off, if I obtain my ADN, can I still take the NCLEX-RN, or is that just for BSN degrees? Or you still take that when you obtain only an ADN? will I still be considered a registered nurse, or is that basically the same as a vocational nurse? I don't think so, but I can't find the specifics ANYWHERE on the net, (not the sharpest tool in the shed.) So assuming an ADN is an RN which I think it is, but just not sure, and I choose that route (ADN) how do I go about that? I know that there are prereqs for the BSN but all info I found online is about LVN to ADN and I was just wondering if it's possible to just go straight to ADN. I believe cypress college offers an ADN degree, and that's not far from where I am. But I have no previous college experience, and unfortunately didn't take lots of science/math in highschool. Are there prereqs? What should I do? Or better yet, what should I take? It would be great if someone on here has been to cypress/lives in California. Thanks in advance to everyone!
