  1. OMG, I am in total shock! I got in for Peds! Yay! Congrats to everyone!
  2. Yes, she said the same to me via email. Bummer. Well, it was my first time applying to Yale, so I'm hoping that 2nd round applicants have a better chance at getting an interview. I got an interview at UCSF and hoping that works out. But if that doesn't, maybe you'll see me on this forum again next year. Congratulation and best of luck to all of you who got interviews!!
  3. Hi Pedsnursehopeful, Yes, I rsvp'd last Thurs the 9th and got a reply on Friday the 10th. It wasn't anything fancy that they replied back. They just said "OK"- literally. Figured I had something in writing and that's all I needed, but now I'm starting to get paranoid that I need something more formal from them confirming my RSVP. ha!
  4. Hi PedsNurseHopeful! I also have an interview for the APPN specialty. So excited! I'm interviewing on the 28th... you? Do we all interview the same day? Also, do you know how many slots are available for Peds? I had heard at one of the info sessions that there are typically 12 slots per year, except for a couple of the more impacted specialties. Would love to know how many are interviewing. Good luck!
  5. Hey Everyone, First, let me say I totally feel for those who didn't get an interview this year.... I didn't last year and was totally bummed for the holidays because I didn't hear until about 12/20. Anyhow, please stay positive and don't let it bring you down, especially if it's your first round to apply. So yes, I did get an interview-- my second time applying! OMG, totally shocked, but my personality type is making me temper that excitement knowing that I still have an interview to get through. I'm interviewing on 1/28 for the Peds track... anyone else get an interview for Peds? Again congrats to all... even those who didn't get an interview, because I know something will come through for you all very soon AND you have the added advantage next year of having a close to complete application. It's so much easier applying the second time.
  6. Thanks Abby_Normal! I can't believe that I missed that group. I wondered why this one showed such little activity. Also, thanks for your words of encouragement and info on the school. So are you in a program again, or did you reapply to schools?
  7. 12 days?! OMG, I didn't realize we'd know so soon. Positive thoughts to you all!
  8. Yes, I'm here in SF, which I love too. I just accepted you as a friend and wrote you directly so we could take this conversation off-line for others who may not be interested.
  9. If you had to take quantitative classes (which it sounds like you did), I would think that you would be considered for a waiver. If you are done with your essay and can deliver your transcripts and a copy of your thesis to them, I would think that they would be able to consider it still. I turned in everything but my LOR's on the 30th and they said they'd give me an answer on my waiver in about 1 week so that I would still have time to take the GRE by the 30th if I needed to. So we'll see. I'm going for the Peds specialty. I also applied to UCSF--- my second time applying there. I'm actually in CA, so although I will be ecstatic if I get accepted to Yale, I'm really not excited about moving cross country. In any case, I figure I'm not going to worry about that now... I need to get accepted 1st! These programs are so competitive so I'm not getting my hopes up too high. I'm facing the same issue of the CC's being just as competitive to get in. There is not only a waiting list, but once you get into the pool, you still have a lottery to compete in! Geesh. I'm no spring chicken so I'm looking at all options at this point.
  10. Yes, totally worth a try!!! My understanding is that if you have a masters in a science field, it was very likely you'd get a waiver. But if you had a Masters in Fine Arts, then they would likely not give you the waiver. But for those of us that had masters in a social science, they would definitely consider because they know that many programs require quantitative analytical skills which is what they want to see. I think Sandra Esposito in the Admissions office can help you. Good luck!
  11. Allie11, Did you know that since you have a Masters that you could ask for a GRE waiver? I just submitted my application in a couple of days ago to request this waiver. I have been talking to Admissions since early this summer and they said that if I could get in everything but my LOR's in by the end of Sept, they would review my application for the waiver. Have you talked to anyone there about this option?
  12. If I remember correctly from last year's application, it stays "under review" until we get a rejection or interview invitation letter. I actually didn't ever get a hard copy letter, but found out on this board that people were getting their hard copy invitation letters in the mail. I found out from someone in this forum that we had to log in and there was a link on our app page that allowed you to download your letter. Just goes to show how helpful these forums are! Hoping for the best for everyone! :-)
  13. Hi KKandes, Just wanted to add in my 2 cents if it is at all helpful.... I set up a call with the Admissions Director and her tip was to treat it like a creative writing piece. You need to be able to answer all the questions in the order they ask, but it's not like you have to write a paragraph on each question. I know that might seem obvious, but it got me more in that mode when I started writing mine. I actually just applied to UCSF MEPN program and fortunately I have something to start with. I think the biggest tip that I got in writing my UCSF essay was to answer all the questions in a version that is just a freewrite-- no rules, no edits, just answer the questions. Then from there start paring it down by cutting out the unnecessary information or condense sentences that say the same thing. Then from there it's just a process of refine, refine, refine. Good luck! I'm not done with mine either, but at least we have until Nov. 1 to complete!
  14. Just locked mine too!! OMG, so glad to be done with this app! Good luck everyone!
  15. oops, one more thing Artemis30, for some reason I thought I heard somewhere that transcripts must be in by the deadline, but I don't find it saying that anywhere in the instructions. Did you check with the office? I called two days ago and they were answering the phones and were pretty helpful.
