UTI/Kidney
I understand that elderly patients will get vascular dementia hypertension, high urea levels, but I am not sure about the CVA. Did the CVA come first or did it come from the lack of kidney function? I also know that when the kidney quits working properly or is comprised it can also lead to bacteremia (sepsis). Is this also due to the urea in the blood? Thanks for your help, Linda:heartbeat:heartbeat

UTI/Kidney
Hello Everyone, I am a nursing student and have been every where to find an answer to this question for my clinical rotation. What neurological component connection is there between the Kidney and UTI? I know that the nerves in the lumbar spine control the urinary functions and if edema happens due to a back up of urine or if the UTI is not treated it can cause encephalopathy. Or if pressure is on the spine from the edema it can cause incontinence. Am I on the right track or am I missing something here. I am in Foundations class first semester LPN student. Trying hard to make it through the first round. Thank you for your help, Linda

First semester LPN student
Hello Everyone, Thanks for all the good advise and listening to my stresses. I didn't mention that I am 52 years old and finally realizing my dream. It was just a shock and I thought I "was getting it". I look up to all of you and value your advise and experiences. Thank you for not only caring "on-the-job-" but in everything you do. Love and hugs to all of you. I will do this. I will be an LPN and be the best LPN that I can be! My spirits are up this morning, the birds are singing, and I am determined to push forward and not look back. I am on my way to school this morning to view my test to where I went wrong and where I need to put more effort. I don't get on here much because my studies are my first priority. Thanks again to all of you. Linda

First semester LPN student
I am a first year/first semester LPN student at Davenport University. I thought I was doing well until my first test in fundamentals class. I got a 72% on my first exam. I am feeling pretty low right now and was wondering if anyone else had this problem when they first started nursing school. I studied my butt off for this test. I was in a study group (they did 76%) and still didn't do well. We needed to get a 77% to pass, so you can see where I am in the mix. I have a Pharm test coming up and my lab final assessment coming up. There again, if we don't pass the final assessment we don't move on. The head to toe assessment has me scared. I am in the process of writing a step by step guide so that I can practice on my family. Is this normal or am I just not going to make it? I am so afraid of flunking out. I want to be a nurse more than anything. Thanks for reading, Linda

Looking for LPN school in Michigan
I am a Baker Flint student 51 years old and just applied for the Auburn Hills Step program from LPN to Rn. I have had a so so experiance with Baker but now I am fighting for financal aid--I was in the RN program and switched to PTA and now to LPN and I have 9 classes too many and Baker said I cannot get anymore Finanical Aid unless I file an appeal. Did your credits transfer to Everest in full or did you have to retake any classes. I still need Pharm and Holistics to get into the LPN program at Baker. Also, do you need to pass the HESI to get into the program at Everest? Also I talked with Janelle at Auburn Hills and she said nothing about being an Auburn Hills student to get into the RN program later on........Maybe Auburn Hills is the only campus with the LPN program? She also told me that if I came back to get my RN degree that I would slide right into the RN program in front of other students. I am curious about the Everest school. Thanks everyone

HELP! Bombed the HESI Entrance Test
I am currently attending Baker College in Michigan, we can only take the Hesi two times only, ever at Baker. How come I am hearing that the test is not timed, it is at Baker. Each section is timed and the total time for the test is 8 hours, I think, can't remember. We only take the Math, English, A&P, Med Term. But we have to score 86 or higher to even be considered for the program. It is very competitive as I'm sure it is everywhere. Baker takes 40 students in the Winter and 40 students in the spring. They used to only take 30 each time. I have taken the fall off of school to study for the HESI, I am fearful that I will not pass after reading this post. I am 51 and need to get back to work and I cannot afford to fail this exam. I have heard that the Sauders study guide coupled with the HESI study guide and the flash cards will help, is that correct? Thanks for reading
