Also my bsn I got through western governors university. It's regionally and nationally accredited but it doesn't give out letter grades, what it says on the transcript is if you pass that means you received a minimum of a B. Afraid if that will hurt me too

Hey everyone just wanted to ask if you all think I have a chance in hell of getting into a crna program. I'd like to go to the one in Columbus at otterbein. My GPA is 3.3 or 3.4, been a nurse for 10 years, by the time I apply will have 4 years of icu xp, my GPA for all my science classes are even higher than 3.3 because I slacked off in two philosophy classes and got Cs, hence the lower GPA. I haven't taken the gre yet but test really well, I was in the 99th percentile nationally for my principles of chemistry final according to my professor as an example. I have recommendations from my icu docs, my charge nurse, and nurse manager. I'll also obviously have my ccrn by the time I apply. Do you guys think I could get in?

Considering going here for rn to bsn, leery of online programs. Is it reputable?

So I've been a nurse for 7 years, 2 of them as an lpn and 5 as an RN. I'm originally lived in ohio but am currently residing in Charleston wv. CAMC is the big dog out here and I literally could apply tomorrow and have a job there the same week, even though I am all ltc/rehab. Is it like this in columbus? I miss ohio and want to move back but I'm afraid to if I'll be unable to get on at a hospital. I've had my fill of ltc and want acute care. I'd hate to stay in wv, but if I have to then I will. Any advice or input on the situation in columbus for someone like me?

Hey all couple questions. First I am an ADN RN and I am interested in moving to Perth. If read several links but still a bit in the dark. What is the process? Is it difficult? Second part of my question is I am mostly ltc/rehab ended up in it by accident but stayed because I enjoy it. Would I have difficulty finding work in Perth/Western Australia? Thanks in advance

I don't mean to seem like I am saying all graduates are jokes, just the school. They screw their students over in many circumstances and are sketchy when it comes to how they handle student loans, etc.

I think rural areas that MDs/DO avoid will be our bread and butter?

I know right? Plus I'm going to have to eat ramen for two or three years if I get a position in order to pay for it lol. I'd love to have my own little office in a rural community.

Ever gave any thought to opening your own center? I fully expect for it to be hard as hell for me to find a position as a fnp by the time i graduate. I plan on hopefully opening my own small office.

Huh? Who are you asking that? And I'd question spending a lot more money getting another advanced practice degree if you're in a part of the country where advanced practice nursing is flooded/under utilized?

Thank you do much for your kind words! It really isn't about money to me. I was actually a biochem major but a nurse saved my life and inspired me to want to help others, the way she helped me. She was actually who pinned me at my graduation. I Ty for the encouragement and I mean that! I actually decided to go and I'm typing this from frontier! God bless you all 8)

I think tuition is like 35k for the bridge but they start you at a lil over 20k a year in student loans. I'm assuming that's for misc things like books?

Ty, your posts actually made me smile. I also want to do primary care and I was just terrified I'd end up not even being able to practice d/t a flooded market. I don't care if I start out at 60k a year, it isnt about money to me. Plus I have plans on joint the national guard to help with the student loan debt.

What do you mean about the "supply and demand" part of your post? Do you feel fnp is flooded ATM?

That's another thing. I heard frontier was highly respected but their fnp program I'm in is online and I've seen a few posts saying negative things about online programs in general. I'm so confused and utterly frustrated. I simply...honestly...have no idea what to do 8(

So I begin at frontier for their fnp program next month and to be honest I'm reconsidering it...nursing all together actually. With as flooded as the market is right now for RNs is it not the same for FNPs? I don't relish the thought of going 60k in debt and then being unable to find a job.

So I was an stna and then went and became a lpn. I worked long term/rehab a year while going to school for my RN. I graduated and was hired by KDMC but before I could start working they had massive layoffs. I went back to long term and rehab as a RN supervisor for two years and sadly they laid off most of the RN supervisors. I've been unable to find another position in charleston wv since. Dozens of applications and no bites. I'm scared and considering going back to school for something else. I never cared about money, I just wanted to help people because a nurse saved my life. I just don't know what to do.

:rolleyes:Another ignorant article...midway through it, it compares crnas salary to a family practice physicians and claims, on average family practice physicians make 16,000 dollars less than an CRNA...aas if they're even comparable. Lets not forget it downplays a CRNAs education as well. Plz someone that is better at correcting stupidity...write a letter or something.
