  1. Probably! I keep calling them and they say it takes 2 or 3 weeks!
  2. Hello. I took both exams on the same day and passed both of them. The AANP is more clinical, whereas the ANCC has a lot of theory and legal/professional issues. However, the ANCC is WAY more efficient with processing your scores. I ordered my certification verification from the ANCC the day after I took the test and got my advanced practice license 3 weeks later. However, my scores from the AANP still say "Results Pending" on the website when I took the exam 3 1/2 weeks ago!
  3. I am graduating from DePaul's FNP program this June. The program is AWFUL. They just hired a new faculty member in August of 2010 and she is ruining the program! She failed some of my friends out of the program and drove some of them to leave DepAUL. The student's complained to the dean about this instructor and instead of them firing her, they promoted her! She told the students in the cohort behind mine that DePaul's course of study for the FNP program was not acceptable according to DePaul's Department of Nursing or the Certification Agencies' standards... So, a lot of the students may not be able to graduate on time. DePaul does not help you find clinical sites. They expect you to find your own... and if you don't you may end up in a Take Care Clinic for many semesters!
  4. This doesn't just happen in the Emergency Room. I work on an oncology medical-surgical floor and they always give the new grads the heaviest assignments. The older nurses claim they do this because "they paid their dues to nursing already" and because "new grads need the experience". For example, we had a patient who was very annoying but had a complex disease process (TTP) and had to receive plasmapharesis almost every day. The charge nurses kept handing her off to new nurses because they thought she was annoying. The new grads had no idea about the patient's disease process, and no one took the time to explain it to them. They were just blindly treating this patient. IMO, this is so unsafe. Hard assignments should be rotated and every should get the full experience of working on their unit.
  5. Hello. I did not pass my NCLEX the first time, but then I took Kaplan the second time around and passed with 75 questions. I thought it was good.
  6. So... I failed my NCLEX. I know I took it entirely to soon. I know it is not the end of the world, but it sure feels like it is. I guess I will take it again. Does anyone know how long it takes to get the actual fail letter in the mail in Illinois? Also, for people who failed the first time. How long did you prepare before you retook it, and what did you use to prepare? I cried when I saw my results on PearsonVue, and now I am just ready to move on and try again.
