Hi, I'm a nurse originally from Puerto Rico, passed NclexRN last month thru NY board of nursing. Now I would like to transfer my license to GA, since my husband will be working there. I studied at Sagrado Corazon university, classes were in Spanish but textbooks were in English. I have some questions for anyone who can help me: Am I consider an international nurse? Am I require to have my education evaluated by CGFNS? and also take the English proficiency test? Do I have to send them verification of my Puerto Rico License too? I have not work since May 2012, am I require to have current work experience or will that be enough if I can prove I've worked? I tried calling GA board of nursing but they keep me waiting for like it seems an eternity, and my dear toddler is always on the run. I will keep on trying next week, in the mean time I would greatly appreciate if anyone can shed some light on these questions. Thanks a lot!

Hello Haize, I used the 3e, the kindle edition. It was easier to carry around, obviously, with a toddler in tow :).

Hi LeslyVi, everyone has their own opinions about what worked for them, but for me Saunders was just perfect and very similar to the nclex. My main review was Saunders, I read it all in a few months and did all the questions at the end of the chapters. I kind of followed an old plan I found here called Suzzane's plan, where you first do the questions at the end of the chapter and if you get 75 or more you move on to the next chapter, if you get less than 75 you read the chapter and take the questions again. I did this but, i would read the chapter regardless of my score. You can found out more about it here Suzanne's Plan for NCLEX recommended by passers.

I took nclex this September 25, 2014 at 8am. Found out today via quick results that I passed!! I have to thank the community of allnurses.com, although I don't post much, but I do read the articles and success stories posted here, which has been of great help. Ive been a nurse for 5 years in Puerto Rico, and have always wanted to take the nclex, finally decided to do it because my husband will be transferring to Atlanta soon and i want to be able to work there. This is what i did to prepare, I hope it can help someone and if you need any help don't hesitate and ask me :-) 1. I read the entire Saunders book 6d. Also did all the practice questions and the comprehensive test at the end of the book. Took me 2 months to finish because I only read at night when my toddler was sleeping. As soon as I finished the book i schedule the test within one month. During that time did the questions on the evolve website, did 3k more or less, a hundred questions a day. This book is amazing, I highly recommend it, I feel the questions in this book are similar to the nclex. 2. Then I read the Kaplan strategies book from cover to cover, did all the questions, but I didn't use any on my exam. 3. The famous PDA book by Lacharity is a must!! I had so many priority questions on my exam, I'm glad i read this book, actually i just did the questions from the evolve website, didn't have time for the cases. All in all is a very important book in my humble opinion. 3. Got the mastery nclex app for my iPad and really just started doing questions the last two weeks I had left before the test. It's a good app, if you can afford just one app get this one. 4. I read a guide I found here a couple of times and the night before the test. Very valuable, thanks to whomever did that :-) I didn't study drugs in depth , only what I have read on Saunders. I didn't try to memorize lab values either, I knew some by heart from my years as a nurse. I got a few select all that apply, lots and lots of who to see first questions, and two ekg strips, the rest were your regular choose the best answer. I think I prepared more than what it was required because I found it easy, so easy that I really thought I have failed :-). Im so glad and thankful to my God that it was not the case. My advice for future test takers is to just study as much as you can, pray and believe that your hard work will be rewarded.

I'm actually a USA citizen. We might move to Georgia. My main question is if its possible to do the credentials and English test without choosing a board/state?

Hello everybody! I've been a member since 2007, but this is my first time posting. I've been a nurse for 5 1/2 years here in Puerto Rico. I started working at a cancer unit for the first 3 years, med/surgery for 1 year, and intensive cardiovascular unit for one and half years. I stop working when I got pregnant in May 2012. We are relocating to the states (don't know which one yet) because of my husband's job. I have never taken the NCLEX-RN, I'm interested in taking it to be able to work wherever we end up. My question is, can I do the credentials evaluation and the English profiency test without choosing a particular board of nursing? Also, I didn't take psychology 101 in college, it was not part of the curriculum, will that be a problem? Can a board of nursing refuse my application because of this? I graduated from Sagrado Corazon university. Thank you.
