  1. Hi! I'm in the Spring class that started this semester... Background checks do not take 4 months... I think at most 2-4 weeks...
  2. Congratulations!! I started this semester and the wait was long and torturous...lol!!! Can't wait to meet you in the Fall!!
  3. Hello! I'm a Springer, who just started UTMB this semester... My application deadline was June 15th or so, and I got an email at the end of august for an interview in September... It took a while, so hang in there!
  4. I submitted my application the day before it closed and I got the second interview slot out of all the interviews... So, unfortunately and as much as us all on the previous threads tried to prove differently, there is absolutely no rhyme to UTMB's madness--uh, I mean, their rhythm...lol Personal essay is SO important! Take your time editing, rewriting, and having it read by someone else. Good Luck!
  5. My TEAS score was: 74.9%
  6. Usually about 220-250 are interviewed with 200 slots being filled. And this is all speculation from our group, we have no hard numbers except that there are 120 slots for BSN. We were told that they were doing interivews every Friday in Septemeber and they would interview about 40 people. There was 5 Friday's in September so it was about 200 people total. I was thinking like 120 slots for BSN and 80 for bacc2. I think the way we figured it out, everybody had a 66% or 2/3 chance of getting in. But, it really seemed better than that. I think all that were on our thread got accepted except 2 or 3, and one of them didn't get an interview on time because they didn't get her info. She turned it in, but had to follow up on it (or something like that). As for the TEAS V, I found it pretty difficult, but I was taking Micro, nutrition, statistics and eng II that semester and it had been a few years since my A&Ps, and I hadn't done chemistry yet. I didn't study at all for it, but I know several people did. Had I, I feel sure I would have scored better. But, UTMB considers 65-75% to be competitive. The good thing is, you can redo it. It was bits and pieces of all the different areas: A&P I&II, chem, stats, nutrition, eng, math and I can't remember the others.... If I could do it, anyone can!
  7. Hello! I am an applicant and incoming student to the spring 2012, BSN program at UTMB. I have a bit of a lighter schedule before the semester begins, so I wanted to make myself available if you had any questions about the application process for UTMB. Someone from the previous thread helped our group out tremendously, so I wanted to pay it forward! My TEAS: 74.9% Overall GPA: 3.4 It seems UTMB is awesome in that they consider, not only the GPA, but they take into account your personal essay. Some people with extremely high GPAs get accepted right way and without an interview, some get waitlisted and come in even during orientation (learned this from the previous thread from ours), and the rest of us go through the waiting game of submitting all of our info and waiting on pins and needles for an interview. From what I could gather, the key was getting an interview. It seemed that most who got an interview were ultimately accepted. Some of us got interviews within 2 months after application time was closed, which was really quick. They interviewed a set of us and then it was a month before the next set was interviewed, and the subsequent interviews seemed to drag on. Lots of people's paperwork got lost, or never reached the SON office or enrollment services so make sure and stay on them. Once you've completed your application, I think within a few days, you can log on to your mystar account and verify which paperwork they've received. If you've turned it in, but it's still listed as 'to-do' on mystar, make sure you call and verify and resend it to them. I know of one person for sure whose paperwork wasn't received and it hindered her getting interviewed. Also, about the GPAs and paperwork--the person from the previous thread that answered all of our questions was listed as having an incorrect GPA of 2.8, but was still called to interview. When she got there she then realized what happened and let them know that her GPA was substantially higher. I say all this to say that UTMB is not always about just what a person scores on a test... I can not stress enough about how important the personal essay is on your application! Please let me know if I can answer any questions! I'm sure more of us will be on throughout the coming semesters, as it was SO helpful to have someone who had already gone through the process to talk to. Good Luck!
  8. Lol... I was born on the Island, but a native of Baytown... :-)
  9. *There was a double negative in there, however, just to be clear: There's no doubt that you should be getting accepted!
  10. Keep hanging in there... Don't give up hope... Maybe you just need to stay on them like you have been. My GPA is 3.4, which is moderate, but my TEAS was 74.9%. You made way better on your TEAS than that. There's no reason you shouldn't be getting accepted. Many people have to repeat classes... I've got at least 4 drops on my transcript, which is not good! I've repeated several classes from my first semester in which I made all W's an F, and one I. Just stay on them. Keep calling and believing that you should have a spot too. I've heard of people that were not accepted who called back up there and spoke directly with the dean, wanting to know why exactly they weren't accepted, after which they were. Stay determined and keep calling!
  11. I'm SO freakin' excited!!! I can't believe I get to start this amazing program in January!!!!!!! *Doing the happy dance!*
  12. Yaaaayyyyy!!! Congratulations for the letters coming in!!!!
  13. LOL... Yes--true, true :-)
  14. Hello Y'all! Congrats to all who've received interviews and acceptances! I'm starting the traditional program in January and I'm curious about financial aid... Can anyone tell me if I will be able to get enough student loans to pay for tuition and books? I'll be living off campus so all I have to worry about is tuition, books and travel expenses. I've read that the limit is $12,500 per year for loans, can I not apply to several other places for loans to cover the difference? Also, I've heard of someone being considered a dependant even though she clearly wasn't, thus having to include her parents income and then not being able to use the PELL. Any experience with this?
  15. I'm thinking study groups, any ideas on putting one together?
  16. Can somebody please explain the loan thing to me? I see that tuition alone is around 15,500... Can I get enough loans each semester to cover this, books and travel?
  17. Just sent a request :-)
  18. YAY for you!! See you in January!!
  19. Yes.. I tried yesterday and couldn't get one up... By all means--please open one if you can and add several of us as admins... (Keep thinking positively! When did you interview?)
  20. I received my acceptance email yesterday, then went to mystar and accepted a little afterwards... My mystar still says "incomplete..." I know in the previous threads several people found out on mystar before they actually got an email!
  21. Hi! I've heard from previous threads that people found out they were accepted from mystar before they received an email. My mystar didn't say anything, however, until after I got my acceptance email (traditional program)... The acceptance and option to accept or decline on mystar can't come up unless someone entered it from the office... I think its time to celebrate!!
  22. I'd think it was a good thing. The alternative would be that they weren't wanting to learn more about you. And, maybe they didn't ask you all the questions. I got done with my interview and was called back before I left the building because all the questions weren't asked. So maybe its somwthibg like that :-)
  23. I'M SO EXCITED!! I actually got on my mystar last night and accepted again!! I cn not wait!! I've heard of people finding out on their mystar before they actually get an email... Good luck to everyone with interviews today, and good luck on getting acceptance letters as well!!! Way to go Springer Class of 2013!!
  24. I tried, but couldnt get it to open for some reason. You wanna try?
  25. Don't worry too much about scores.... I have a 3.4 and 74.9% TEAS... Keep thinking positive!!
