im a tech in Grant's ED, soon to be a medic at Grant after i pass registry. The peroson who did my schedualing was alos out EMS cordinator who reviews all the medic reports that come in with new pts. She is very pro-education, much less medical education, and worked really hard to give me the days i needed to be in class, ridetime and clincal. as far as how i like it, it pretty cool. personally i couldnt do anything on a floor... i like the chaos of the ED. Plus you arnt utilized as a medic on the floor. The pay isnt much, but for what you lack in monetary compensation, you make up in education and access to great minds(other medics, rns, docs, respitory therapist, radiologists, pharmacists, etc.)

pct is a great way to get your feet wet. i am/was an Er tech(pct with more abilites) throught medic school. working in the medical field while in school brings and entire otehr demension to what you learn and are being taught. .this goes with outsaying in my mind but, there is the book way to do things and there is the "real world" way of doing things make sure you differientiate between the two for school. as far as jobs this is a good positon to explor where ever your interests. i would go for any ICU experience cuse thats what im about. when i first started in teh er i was all about it, not knowing what to expect. now that ive been there for a few years, ive learned its time management and staying on your game. tahts the kind of **** you can learn from working good luck
