Quinnipiac University ABSN 2021 Cycle
Hi Tory, Congrats on your acceptance! That is a crazy big decision to move cross country and I think its great that you are taking that risk (which will be well worth it I'm sure.) I can assure you it is a beautiful state with so many great communities to live in. I think there are lots of housing opportunities right near the Hamden campus which is probably about a 15 min drive. I am not that familiar with North Haven housing options. But if you don't mind a little drive there are lots of options on the shoreline that are beautiful and near the beach and still only about a 30 minute drive to school. I live in Guilford which is a wonderful welcoming and open community with a beautiful town center and beach. But there are also several other towns like Branford, East Haven, North Branford, Hamden, Northford. This list goes on. Let me know if I can answer any other questions for you!

I got notified that I am off the waitlist yesterday. I officially declined today as I am accepting another program. That means there is one more spot open for others on the waitlist. Good luck!

In my opinion QU is exactly that, positive, supportive and a quality education. I like their holistic approach and how they don't just teach you the basics of nursing but also provide you with the resources and support to be more than just a nurse. They seem to foster to leadership skills which will inevitable prepare you to further your career after becoming a nurse. Everyone I have spoken to at the university has been kind and helpful. Not once did I feel like I was asking a stupid question. (and I ask a lot of questions LOL). The success rate is also in the high 90's for the NCLEX and they all but guarantee you will be employed within 6 month after graduation. To be honest I think CT has a lot of quality programs. For me QU not only offered what I am looking for educationally but also in a way that is accommodating to my schedule. I have three little ones, two of which are starting Kindergarten in the fall and the littlest one will be in preschool....all new schedules to navigate. QU follows the traditional academic calendar which is more in line with the public school schedule so we will have holidays and breaks off together. The tuition is obviously more expensive than most but for me the convenience of not struggling more than I have to in terms of juggling schedules and childcare is worth the money. That was a lot LOL, I hope it was helpful ? Is anyone joining the zoom call tomorrow? I can't wait!

I was told that merit based scholarships are reserved for first degree undergrads and I was encouraged to explore independent scholarships not offered by QU. I know there are a bunch offered through the American Nurses Association but they require a commitment to a specific program and I have not committed just yet...

SCSU ACE Summer 2021
QU was a last minute decision for me to apply because of the tuition. But I have three small children, I'm older (38) and it was now or never. With southern only accepting 36 people I could not rely only on getting in here. But now the more I look at QU, their holistic approach and the class schedule it may be a better choice for me and my family anyways. I may be in debt but if that means that those 12 months will be easier for my life logistically I think its worth having student debt for a few years. That being said. Southern has one of the top programs in the state. So if I get accepted it will still be a tough choice for me.

Sorry I confused my threads. Chelsea is in admission at SCSU where I am still waiting to hear from. I hope you hear back this week so you can make your decision. I heard Fridays is when they send out acceptances. worst case is you can accept Adelphi and then just lose your deposit? Good luck. I hope everyone hears this week!

Did Chelsea say is decisions would be coming through mail or email? Has anyone else been accepted anywhere else? What are pros/cons you are using to help you decide between schools?

SCSU ACE Summer 2021
Did she say how we will be notified, by email or mail? Or when we need to accept by? I got accepted to QU but I'm waiting to here from SCSU obviously and I'm struggling with what to do if I get accepted to both. Has anyone else already been accepted somewhere else? what are you going to base your decision on?

@nurseally7299 If I am remembering correctly they accept around 100 people and about 65 to 75 deposit. @amy2021 My main deciding factor is the class schedule. I am still waiting to hear from SCSU but I remember them saying the schedule was super intense where QU seemed to provide some flexibility in class schedule/clinicals. I would also take into account how much financial aid each school would provide me. I have a mortgage and three small children whom I have to pay for child care and I will be quitting my job most likely leaving us solely reliant on one income. But I also am a huge fan of QU's holistic approach. I did their info session last Summer but I think I will join the one coming up in March to get a refresher and see if there are any updates that are covid related. has anyone accepted yet?

Congratulations everyone! I also found out this morning that I was accepted!! I am still waiting to hear from Southern but QU is my top choice. As long as I can figure it out financially that is where I want to be. Either way it's really real now!!

Hi everyone! Quinnipiac is my first choice but I’m also waiting to hear from SCSU accelerated program and gateways certificate program if I don’t get into either of the accelerated programs. My undergraduate degree is from UCONN in anthropology and sociology and that was 15 years ago!! I decided to switch careers bc I’m a mom of three little boys and I need to do more for them and show them no matter what age you are you can still follow your dreams! my pre reqs: AP1- A AP2- A- Micro- A Stats- A-, but I am retaking Stats now bc it’s over 5 years old. Lifespan -A does anyone know what the first semester class load looks like? Do you think it will be online at all because of COVID? I’m super excited and nervous and anxiously waiting decisions! Best of luck to everyone!
