  1. I screwed up my nursing prerequisites 10-11 years ago. I started at north Seattle college with the intent on going into nursing. Had a new baby and a job. I failed ap2, repeated it, didn’t score high enough in micro, or my second time taking ap2 either. Decided to give up and just get my associates which I did, not without some more poor grades and Ws on my transcript. I was able to get into UW for an online bachelors degree program and I did OK there. Finished that in 2017. Then recently I retook the nursing pre-reqs I needed (the science ones mostly) and aced them. I got into UWs ABSN program. So I’d say there’s hope for anyone who struggled in the past. I really struggled and wrote about that in the additional information section of my essay basically saying “yeah I failed classes before, here’s why”. “Here’s why I don’t suck now and here’s proof”. UW seems to be pretty forgiving. I didn’t even look at applying at st Martin’s because they said something about the amount of repeats you could have and I took ap1 2x, micro 2x, ap2 3x, I think I even repeated psych 200 but got a decent grade the second time way back then. I retook stats but didn’t need to for UW, I would have needed to for other schools that had an expiration thing for some of the classes. I didn’t apply anywhere else before getting into UW so not sure what other schools would have said to me.
  2. I think it starts soon they just posted about it today. Dates say Dec 27-28. Go find them on FB they post about it today. I’m fairly sure it’s open to everyone but it is limited to the first 62 applications received.
  3. For anyone still looking to apply to the uw BSN program look up the future nurses club at uw on facebook. They’re doing an application review for your BSN apps. Just saw the post today. I did it the first time and got great suggestions on my application.
  4. For anyone reading this look up the future nurses club at uw on facebook. They’re doing an application review for BSN applications. They posted it on fb today how to submit for review.

  6. Has anyone filled out the intent to register form yet? I am stuck on the high school part. Should I put in the high school I attended even though I didn’t graduate? Or the location where I got my GED? I’m not sure which info they are wanting later I guess. I haven’t been asked about high school in a long time hah. I called and left a message asking, and sent a quick email. Not trying to bother them but I didn’t catch that this was due by Monday.
  7. I just got my call 15 minutes ago!
  8. Wah! Now I need to be on edge from mid to late December ?. Thanks for emailing them. So no phone calls this time all via email? Had read that they phoned all the ones who got in and emailed those who were waitlisted and rejected. Justine
  9. I’m nervous too. For the essay I thought we’d be asked about hypothetical care situations. So I’m hoping I did OK. I have it in my head that they said dec 15 but I can’t find that anywhere so I may be incorrect.
  10. Yes I plan to apply for the regular BSN program as well
  11. Nervous I guess. I got about 500 ish words in, worried it wasn't enough. ??
  12. They said they were looking for basic intro type courses - if that helps.
  13. Thanks so much! I was confused and worried because I don't have scans or photos of my transcripts, its literally a PDF downloaded from my school's unofficial transcripts area. So when it said "You will scan or take a high res photo" I thought I needed to have Official Transcripts that were sent to me, opened by me (making them unofficial) and then scanned and submitted. So I was worried what I had wasn't acceptable, but I also emailed the SON and they said it was OK too.
  14. @pibeet Did you get a chance to watch the info session? They haven't posted the slides yet from the 9/22 info session, but they said they would post them soon. They said that the proctored essay has 3 scenarios to choose from. They want to know if you can write/think critically, are you thoughtful, and did you actually answer the prompt. A tip they had was to "take risks" and to "treat the whole person". There will also be 3 math problems, drug calculations or conversion type problems. They said it was basic algebra type problems, and you could find some practice problems online. However, they kept saying that it wasn't supposed to be too deep or too complicated, and that anyone in their office (admissions peeps, not nurses) could do them. I haven't listened to the things here but there are some topics with audio associated with them on this page: https://nursing.uw.edu/prospective/engage/ABSN/
