  1. I got a Littmann when I started the CNA class in high school, it's lasted me 7 years, they're worth the investment!
  2. Yes I would like to be included in that group! Congratulations to everyone who got in. This was a dramatic year for admissions.
  3. I just got mine as well! I'm in!!!
  4. The unfortunate thing is that no-one could have predicted that bio would be on the exam, in my opinion. My adviser told me that they were pushing us to study from the 2019-2020 Kaplan book, but I bought it and it was not useful to this exam. Some of the questions I ran into, I found material for but only under the HESI portion of the exam study guide. I never thought I would see some of those questions on a nursing school entrance exam, which is what is frustrating to me. I was told that one of the higher ups had taken the exam and believes that it is material they want to test on and that our pre-reqs should cover the material? However it seems as though they are getting a lot of complaints about the material so it seems a lot of students know that this material should not have been on the test in the first place, as many of us have never seen it.
  5. Thank you for your input! I wish my adviser had let me know it would be changing, but I am glad to hear that they were at least warning some students about it. You did good compared to the rest of us in this thread, especially for having never taken general bio at the college level! Honestly I'm hoping not many people did better than you. I just have a feeling that a lot of people either got lucky and guessed right, or they remember their general bio really well. I just know that this year there are a lot of people who deserve to be in the program who won't be just because they don't remember their general bio very well, or at all. The HESI is much longer than the Kaplan as well, and though I've never taken it, I'd recommend visiting the student nurse subreddit, as they have a lot of resources for both the HESI and the TEAS (just not the Kaplan ? ). Also, the book they recommended NAU students this year for the Kaplan also contains a HESI portion and it does seem pretty detailed? Good luck on the HESI and thank you again for your input!
  6. I am, too! I had a feeling there were going to be a lot of us, and we could all use the reassurement right now! At least if we don't get in we can be assured that we did the best we could, and this was out of our hands.
  7. Ugh ? I looked it up, too and it's not a requirement. Regardless, shouldn't they tell us what's on the test so that we can prepare? I understand changing it, but most standardized tests have an ACCURATE study book so that at least you study the right subject. I was going to attach my resume, too, since I've been a CNA for so long but I figured it didn't matter, they probably won't care. Yeah, I got a 65 I just hope that the whole pool looks like mine! Luckily I think the physics is covered in the HESI book so maybe it's easy enough? Don't give up! There's ALWAYS a way. Even if you do community college, then RN-BSN. Honestly, if I could start over that's probably what I'd do instead, since university is so competitive.
  8. I spoke on behalf of all the students who took it! I said that it was unfair that the book and the department led us astray on what to study, and that most of us probably haven't seen biology in years! I also contacted Kaplan (I know, I was upset) but they couldn't help. An interview is probably better! I was bummed that NAU doesn't do any of that stuff, it's so tough to get in. I've heard the HESI and TEAS are easier, but it's probably all relative. Like the HESI has physics?? I haven't taken any other exams but I have taken the Kaplan twice now. I'm really dead set on NAU.
  9. I sent the nursing department an email today complaining about what happened so hopefully they don't disqualify me based off that lol... I was super prepared, too. I study for like a month or two non stop and learned everything I could about physiology and then bam. My worry is that, too ? I don't know how many people took the test who know their bio really well. Yes, keep me updated! And good luck with getting into a program! What exam did you have to take for the other program, if you don't mind me asking?
  10. I'm really sorry to hear that!! It really feels like NAU cheated us this year. It seems you have other options though!! NAU is the only school I can feasibly go to right now ?. Maybe if the scores are low enough this year they'll drop the standards? I took bio in high school with an awful teacher and never re took it because I didn't think I needed to, and I feel like a lot of other people are in the same boat
  11. HelloSunshine545 : I'm really sorry to hear that. I understand the disappointment. I was walking in so prepped and expecting close to a 100% on science but I was sorely disappointment when I ran into questions that I don't think I've ever seen before. ? I know my anatomy and physiology really well but I haven't taken basic biology since high school. I've been searching the internet all day to find evidence of the change and I can't find anything that would even lead people to study in the right direction. I took the test last year and wasn't nearly as prepared, but I can honestly say that last year's test was extremely different. Good luck to the both of us, still. I hope that by some dumb luck that the change in the test was meant to drop science scores since they seemed to be getting so high in previous years.
  12. Hey everyone, I applied for the 2020 ABSN program and I took my KAPLAN today. I did AWFULLY. Here are my scores: Reading: 86% Writing: 86% Math: 96% and Science: 65% !! ? Good luck to everyone who is applying this year. And to anyone who hasn't taken the test this year, please disregard the advice given so far about studying for this exam in this thread. The test has changed this year it seems.
